Q: Supported Printer software not available on download server

I use my Epson Stylus Photo R220 already for many years.

Since a few weeks Mountain Lion gave me a message that my printer software needs updating.

I tried to do this a few times, but the update process was not possible.

I then removed the printer from my printer list and tried to ad the printer again, hoping the software installation process would be better.

Unfortunately not; so my printer has become useless now.

When I try to ad the printer, a message box says the system is looking for software to install. After a period of time, I get the message that the software is not available at the download server.

See also attached screen shots.

Epson claims that all drivers have been updated for Mountain Lion and are given to Apple and that the only way to install the software is to use the software update from Mountain Lion.

Why does Apple not solve this?

unfortunately I cannot attach the screenshots to this topic.

    Hello there,

I tried a lot of things and finally my Epson Stylus Photo R220 works again with Mountain Lion!

I am not sure what did the trick, but maybe it had something to do with restoring permissions.

Some of the steps I undertook:

    - disconnecte printer

    -Restarted

    - connected printer again (software was downloaded)

and I moved some epson files in the library and also back again

Somehow the printer was shown again and ready to operate.
