To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
What if anything do you see on your TV screen with the cable plugged in and both the MacBook and the TV on and the TV set to the correct source.

Sep 19, 2012 2:03 AM in response to frederic1943by o..,I have a Macbook 7,1 and when I plug it in and set to correct source there is nothing on the screen. I have tried with a second TV and it shows a message that says 'no input'. Thanks
