Q: Am I the only one having ios 6 ipad 3 wi-fi issues

after my update to ios 6 I tried to set up the ipad and it was unable to join the network....so since then I have reset the network settings, NO SOLUTION!... tried messing with my wireless router settings and switching different channels NO SOLUTION!! , and also reinstalled ios 6 to see if that was the issue....NO RESOLVE!

I have come to terms with the fact that my ipad was fine and connected easily before ios 6 with ios 5, so its not my router or wifi settings.....and my ipod touch 4g was updated to ios 6 as well and it connects absolutely fine to my wifi now.....SO SO FAR I AM VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THE UPDATE!

Yep got the same problem  after IOS 6 update on the iPad  (3).  Will not hold a Wifi connection.

    Except!!!!

Seem to be OK with BTOpenzone Hotspot

Seem to be OK if you use WEP security on Wifi Connection.  (Not very Secure)

Looks like the IOS 6 update has issues with the WPA and WPA2 security settings

I found the answer to the problem

It is not your router settings

My iPad did the same thing

I wnet and then updated all my apps and resynced the iPad, then a hard reset, now all is working fine

<<SOLVED and working fine now. See below.>>

I had the same issue. I updated my iPhone 4 and iPad 3.
I had no issues connecting to either of our office routers before the update.

My iPhone is working fine, but my iPad 3 connects to the wifi, but then as soon as I launch anything that requires wifi - it gives me the "apple cannot find" window.

I tried the following before it finally started working again:

    1. Rebooted my iPad - no change

    2. Tried other wifi routers in the office - still the same

    3. I cleared my Safari History and Cookies and rebooted as someone suggested - no luck.

Finally, I went to Settings => General => Reset => Reset Network Settings.

Afterwards, I rebooted to be sure everything is gone.

After it booted back up, I connected to my wifi, entered the passkey and everything is working fine again.

    Hope this works.

    Good luck!

    From Twitter user JoeBlack2K:

@Gartenberg apple's check-if-its-a-hotspot site is down.. iPhone thinks you a login hotspot just wait till apple servers are back up

    https://twitter.com/JoeBlack2k/statuses/248565003593080832

Had never heard this before, but apparently Apple assumes you're checking into a hotspot, does a quick check through its servers and then logs you in even on your home network.

I was seeing the same issue on my iPhone 4 and as soon as one other person tweeted out that the outage was over, the issue resolved on its own. Weird but true.

I was having the same issues earlier after updating both my iPhone 4s and iPad3.

After reading all the posts and suggestions here, my devices are up and running again. I know my router is working fine because I can connect using my Macbook.

    Here's what I did.

    1. To go Geenral > Reset > Reset Network Setttings

--- Device will reboot and try to connect to your router.

    2. Ensure that all your apps are closed and nothing is running while you're doing it. Close all the pages open in your Safari, especially the app store or the apple website.

And there, its been working for my devices for more than 30 minutes now. Hope its sustained.

What a Pain.... Thanks for all the earlier tips.

Here is the temporary solution: Remove TKIP from your WPA2 personal security and use only AES.  This works for me.  However, Apple needs to fix this ASAP.

Triantos--Thank you!! Couldn't stay connected to WiFi. Tried turning all those setting off and back on again, BUT hadn't done it in the order you described. When I did it as you described, it worked like a charm. I now have my WiFi back on my iPad.

mine too, iPhone 4S.  I did the http proxy thing recommended by others, and thought that fixed it.  Same time you and others saying it just started working again.

    This worked for me:

    1.  Go into the WiFi settings and select the network that is giving you trouble.

    2.  Click on Forget this Network.

    3.  At that point, do a soft reset - home+power button.

    4.  After restarting, join the network.

After doing the above, I didn't get the error anymore.

This is going to sound crazy, but another post seems to have suggested a workaround and it's worked for me on my 4GS and iPad 2.

Turn off wifi and launch the Apple store app from cellular. Wait for the app to launch. Then connect via wifi to your network. For me, this seemed to have resolved the issue. Something about wanting to authenticate to the Apple Store app and not being able to?

The way I did it with the iPad was to create a hot spot from the iPhone via wii, have the iPad connect to the hot spot, then launch the Store app, then disconnect from the hot spot via "Forget this Network" then connect to the wifi.

I know this is nuts, but its worked on two devices so far.....

    Go figure ...

I was having the same problem with the wifi. I went to my wifi settings, hit the blue arrow beside my connection, and renewed the lease after rebooting the iPad. Now, everything works. Hope this helps others.

Yeah, looks like the solution to this issue was just waiting. I wish I knew that before I restored my iPad...
