Q: Am I the only one having ios 6 ipad 3 wi-fi issues

after my update to ios 6 I tried to set up the ipad and it was unable to join the network....so since then I have reset the network settings, NO SOLUTION!... tried messing with my wireless router settings and switching different channels NO SOLUTION!! , and also reinstalled ios 6 to see if that was the issue....NO RESOLVE!

I have come to terms with the fact that my ipad was fine and connected easily before ios 6 with ios 5, so its not my router or wifi settings.....and my ipod touch 4g was updated to ios 6 as well and it connects absolutely fine to my wifi now.....SO SO FAR I AM VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THE UPDATE!

I corrected the issue with a small change to jenngu's post.  (Settings>General>Reset>"Reset Network Settings"

Re-enter your password after you select your network and you'll be back.

OK, somebody posted directions to get this fixed.  First, click on the blue arrow next to the network you usually use.  Then, click on "Forget this network."  Then, put your password back in it.  That should fix it.  You will have to click on the "Ask to Join Networks" button again.

Thanks for the people who posted the solution.  And Apple, big, big FAIL to you.

I just updated my ipad 2 and ran into the same issue. About 15 minutes later I tried again to select my router and connect to finish setup and it worked and my ipad is working normal now. I did nothing else. Weird!

Yes, it started working for my iPad 2 before I had a chance to make any changes. I think Apple fixed the problem with their site.

I had the same problem with my iPhone 4 and my new iPad. I was also using a airport extreme. The fix for me was to turn off wireless on my devices, turn on airplane mode. Turn off the device(iphone, ipad) and turn back on. Turn on airplane mode then wireless. It worked for both devices!

OK this seems to work for me.  I would like to know if changeing this setting has other implications.  And will we have to change it foe every WiFi netwok we use.

    or

go to settings>Safari>Turn on Private Browsing

make sure to close all browers.

    Connect to your wifi

then you can turn off private browsing if you want.

    Got my 4s working...

    Settings>General>Reset

    Reset Network Settings.

Then rejoin the wifi network after reboot!

    Worked for me.

    I have a workaround solution.

    Problem summary:

iOS6 update causes wifi access on secure networks tomistake the network for a wifi hotspot with a captive portal. It opens the "safari" dialog to allow you to log into the non-existent hotspot. It goes to an Apple page by defult which is not found (I assue a check to see if there is really a network connection outside the "sandbox" t thinks you are in.

    If you cancel it disconnects.

Temporary soluton until Apple addresses this:

    1. Open the details for the network setting that is giving you a problem. (The little blue > arrow)

    2. Click the Forget this network button.

    3. Click the wifi button at the top to go backto the main wifi settings screen.

    4. Under Choose a Network, click other.

    5. Manually add the network SSID andd etails for your router security and password.

This worked on two iOS devices that broke on upgrade for me.

    this is what I did

open itunes and click on your device name and hit restore

do not back up your device

after itunes restores your device it will ask you if you want to restore from pervious back up or start as new

    hit start as new

(note) this will erase all contents in your device. so will have to set up your accounts and everything.

let me know if this works

Had same issue updating my 4, although wife's 4S did fine.  Wifi dropped out on mine after a few seconds.  All I did was re-sync and for some reason it's working fine now, full signal strength.
