Q: Retina MBP - visual glitches after returning from sleep

There is an example of Safari scrolling and right side losing sync from the left side due to missing some re-draw.

Same problem here. I didn't try a clean Install of ML again.

Does some of u got graphic problems in the image Preview on your Macbook? If I select a lot of Pictures and open them on the Preview...click next on the arrows very fast, the graphics go crazy after some seconds: Suddenly u can see the older picture between images( appears very quickly like a ghost) ....like the cinema-scene in "fight club" but the whole time!

Anyone got the same graphic problems on his retina?

SUCCESSFUL WORKAROUND >>> System Preferences > Energy Saver > Display Sleep NEVER (for both Battery AND Power Adapter)

UPDATE:

Since August I have been running without ANY display flicker issues:

I have had my System Preference > Energy Saver > Display Sleep > Set to NEVER for BOTH Battery and Power Adapter.

I realize that this is not a perfect workaround, but HONESTLY I have just gotten used to either forcing my display into screensaver mode by setting a corner hotspot and manually doing that or by manually lowering my display brightnesst to zero.

In my opnion, this is a small price to pay for the incredible performance of the Retina MacBook and the predictability of not having any issues with system/display stability.  I'm sure some would disagree...and of course it is kind of embarassing for Apple that their advanced display has issues coming out of sleep, but on balance the Retina MacBook ABSOLUTELY ROCKS!!!  I LOVE MINE!

I have been using the same workaround and was hoping for a better solution. Maybe another SMC update will fix, the sleep and power nap features would be great if they actually worked.

Is there a solution to this yet? I'm having same problem, I bought the macbook pro retina display last month (Nov). Rather than saying no sleep for the display, I prefer the workaround suggested earlier of blindly groping open the System Preferences -> Displays -> click scaled, change then change back. Rebooting works for me too, but chaning the display is faster with no lost work. 

Is there a fix to this yet?  Here's a pic of what's happening to mine when it wakes from a long sleep.  If I change the scale to something else and back or reboot the problem goes away until the next exetended sleep.

BTW, 13 rMBP purchased 2  days ago. OS X 10.8.2

Like BillHahn said, if you set your display to NEVER go to sleep that seems to fix it (for me at least).

If you want to put your display to sleep manually, you still can with the keyboard shortcut Fn+Ctrl+Shift+PowerButton

Just got 15 rMBP yesterday -- discovered this bug this morning.  Can't believe this issue is still not resolved!

Call this a coincidence or fluke, I had the same issue as OP; screen acting all weird after waking from sleep. This is on my MBPR of 2 months. This is the second machine they exchanged for me also having the same problem come back. Always seem to reel its ugly head when I start to mess with screen saver or Energy saving settings.

Brought it in to the Genius bar after it started misbehaving last week after a presentation I gave using Numbers.

Findings

They ran a basic hardware test on it then advised they need to check my machine in for a day or two to do a "graphic" stress test. Not sure what it entails but they found nothing wrong and did a OS reinstall as a precautionary measure. When I picked it up, a different Genius Rep told me this is most definitely a software glitch. Machines ranging from his own MacMini to some customers' iMacs have been having this problem. He assured me that Apple is coming up with a patch soon. How soon? He said he doesnt know and that Apple Engineers are advising a work-around...that is in Security settings, do not check the "Log in required after sleep" option. Meaning, no log in screen upon wake from sleep or screensaver. I found that interesting since this seems like the only place that my screen misbehaves; At login screen.

Then lo and behold, one night after I get my MBP back on Monday, Apple released an SMC and OS update...can't remember the exact verbage but resolving the screen resolution and video glitch is one of the problems the update aims to resolve. Ran the update (after a painful experience to find out I cannot restore from my Time Machine the way it was intended after my HD wipe) and <touch wood>, haven't had the display glitch from sleep yet!

Curious, how's the patch working for everyone else?

I bought my rMBP like 3 weeks ago. I already have the latest patch (including OS X 8.2.3).

Yesterday I woke up the computer from sleep (I don't have a log in screen setup) and I saw for the first time the glitch that is mentioin in this forum.

So, it seems like the glitches are still present? even after the latest patch?

Hey Apple! are you kidding me?? this problem exists since last year and there is no fix for that???

It happens to me each and every time I try to login after a short sleep!!!

Im very suprised with my mac retina.

It ran perfect for 2 solid months, no flicker at all, even after sleep. never

A week ago it started to flicker, slowly, mostly after wake up from sleep, but it is progresively getting worse now.

Definately not happy after paying 2000$$$$
