    Deleting the app works.  Thanks.

You can't download new podcasts when Podcast app is not installed !!!

I was about to follow and delete the podcast app but noticed the following behaviours with the existing podcast app that should tide me through:

    1) The podcasts do play one after the other. The default behaviour I had was "display newest to oldest" but "play oldest to newest". If I select a podcast from the bottom of the list it'll play through it, finish and then move onto the next one up the list. The order of podcasts is according to release date.

    2) My playlist for audio podcasts was basically just to go through the list from oldest to newest and then get rid of any played podcasts. The "unplayed episodes" list was basically this, but in reverse order (newest to oldest). If I selected the one at the bottom (oldest) to play first, again it would work its way up the list as podcasts become played.

    3) My main concern was being in the vehicle not being able to select podcasts without endangering myself. I loaded a 3rd party music player (Groove) and noticed that the playlists containing audio podcasts was still populated. It was just the music app that showed empty playlists. When I got to my car (Audi 2010 mmi) and plugged in my iphone, the behaviour was as before. The podcasts were still in the playlists, and I could specifically select podcasts from within the car's interface. It looks like they kept the API for external apps/devices to access podcasts intact.

I'm going to see if I can put up with it since I'm a sucker for punishment. It's great to know that the podcast app can be removed so I can revert everything to the way it was if it becomes too much for me.

I tried deleting the podcast app as advised to get my podcast playlist back.

Although the podcasts do now appear in the More/Podcasts tab under the music app, my podcast playlist still does not appear.

If I look at the Iphone (3GS) within Itunes, the podcast playlist is appearing as being on the phone.  However, it does not appear in the music app. (yes I have rebooted the phone)

I suspect this is because I have Itunes Match enabled - it appears that you can no longer see playlists that contain items that are not in the Icloud / Itunes match if you have it enabled?  In IOS5, you could still see the podcast playlist even though it was not in the cloud.

I have the same problem, Audible podcasts only transfer one podcast to new app.  the WSJ wouldnt move even though it shows in itunes as "there".  After some wrangling, on a hunch I clicked and dragged the podcast to the audible playlist, and like magic it worked and yesterday's WSJ is there now.  Then I refreshed the podcasts and the today's WSJ showed up immediately on the playlist without having to move it again manually.  Hope this helps and actually holds.  Why Apple wouldn't test high useage items like this is beyond comprehension.  But then again no software maker is clear on this, they ship it quick and let the bugs work themselves out....

Add me to the list of complainers on this issue. I have a large backlog of podcasts that I have mixed and queued up in iTunes and have added and listened to for YEARS, while driving to high school, walking around campus in college, on road trips, and now walking to work.

VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS LACK OF FORESIGHT ON APPLE'S PART

I want to add my voice to this complaint.  I have never, ever, posted before.  Messing with my podcasts in this update made me very angry.  The way they handle podcasts stinks.  They need to let people have the option to handle podcasts the way they want (i.e. playlists, etc.).  I don't know if I am long for the Apple eco system.  This kind of attitude angers me.

I have several palylists, one for economic topics, sports podcasts, news podcast, and podcasts less than 10 min in duration....  now with this new "upgrade" I don't see my playlists in the new Podcasts App.... actually, stitcher looks now like a better option to me than using Music or Podcasts Apple apps (may be that's the Apple plan, to fore the podcast users out of itunes).

The only way I could return to have the podcasts in Music app and not in Podcast app was to remove the app (didn't woek), then to kill Music (didn't work), to re-sync and remove the Podcasts app from itunes (didn't wwork), and to retry everythign but rebooting the iPhone (this time it worked).

This is absolutely bizaare.  The only reason I didn't defect to another podcast player earlier, like stitcher, is that I "rack & stack" a daily playlist of podcasts in iTunes on my Mac and the Music player was the only player I found with a web interface for quickly building a playlist.  Bad Apple, bad.

Don't any of the people working at Apple on the Podcasts app actually work with their hands?  Very disappointing update.

Deleting the Podcasts app, then quiting Music did *fix* it by allowing Music to manage podcasts and now I can again make playlists on the fly on the iPhone. The only thing i loose by deleting Podcasts app is the ability to update subscriptions automatically & directly from the iPhone - which I did not use anyway.

deleting the podcast app, restarting music, didn't work for me.  Nor did changing the "podcast" to "music."  I've got it all so screwed up now I'll never get it straight.  **** you apple.

    Here's what worked for me:

    1) Uninstall the podcast app.

    2) Stop the Music app on the iPod.

    3) Sync iTunes

    4) Shutdown the iPod and restart.

    5) In iTunes make sure that the settings for the iPod under Podcasts has selected to sync all podcasts or at least the playlists that contain the podcasts you want and sync again.

You may want to check thart step 5 is correct for you.

I find the way podcasts were handled in the iOS 6 release bizzare.  I can understand why the maps app is screwed up, but why have they messed around with podcasts and playlists.  What a mess.

I'm not impressed with the podcast app either. It seems like a good idea, but needs a lot of work. It needs playlist capability. most importantly, it seems like they should be able to make it so that the app recognizes the settings from the itunes sync. Once synced, the app should know how you like podcasts saved and which podcasts you subscribe to. and why can't the new podcasts be pushed to the device in wifi? and why cant you have a little badge on the app telling you how many unplayed podcasts you have?
