This is the same thing that happened to me. Have to wait for a patch or procedure that will make it work again. Thanks for the posting.

Your library is probably fine, as are your prefs. Its an install problem.  Deleting prefs are a temp solution only.

Just delete the app and reinstall form your source media (dvd) and update directly to 3.4 (or Redownload from app store); that fixes the problem, ie, a missing or incorrect version of the PrintServices framework in the application.

You can leave your old prefs, the key is deleting your old app copy on your system and starting from an early version.

Make sense?  Try that and report back what you find.

Nope @Clem Sadly my disks were lost in the great robbery of early 2012 and as I didn't download it from the app store, I cant follow the helpful suggestion by yourself. Tried Moving the library and starting a clean one. To no avail. Buggered I guess

If you do not have the original install DVDs, use the Aperture Trial installer instead:

Try if this download link for the trial version still works: if yes, you can unlock it with your serial number:

will try. Where can I find my serial number in the software or settings. My boxes are gone! or can I merely over-install the trial and hope it picks it up?

The serial number will show in the About- panel  (from the main menu bar: Aperture > About Aperture).

So you have to get Aperture to run at least once - try to launch it with the options key held down, and create a new library, try to launch it from a new user account, try to trash the Aperture preferences - hopefully you get it to run at least to be able to open the panel.

They're hidden in User/Library/Preferences. You'll have to use something to show hidden files - I use Pathfinder.

The User Library is hidden by default. You can reveal it from the Finder's "GO" menu:

Finder > Go,   then hold down the options ⌥ key, until the Library appears in the drop-down menu, select it and open the Library folder. Then go to the "Preferences" sub folder and remove

    your Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.aperture.plist.

    Or use the Terminal:

Type the following line into the window and hit return:

         cd; open ~/Library/Preferences

@iteachcoffee You don't need to delete your prefs, and your serial number should remain where it was originally isntalled. Just delete the app, then reinstall the trial.  Should be self-serialized by virture of the file still being in place.  Then, run the updater.

@Clem: Thanks a ton.  Reinstalling and applying 3.4 did the trick.

(I got the upgrading library business originally, then the crash everyone sees.  The library opened in iPhoto just fine.  After the reinstall and 3.4 update, my serial number was still there as you said, and launching started a library repair process that took a while ... but then all seemed fine.)

Grateful to this community of shared knowledge / solutions!
