iTunes Match on iOS 6 Hangs

    Same problem for me on my iPhone 4S (not on my iPad).

    I had to:

     

    1/ "Erase All Content and Settings"

    2/ Restore from my last iCoud backup

    3/ Activate iTunes match again

    4/ Disable automatic display lock  <- very important

    5/ Run Music App and wait for half an hour.

     

    My progress bar is not overt yet, put completed at 75%

    Hmmm, I may have sent my message to quickly.

    The process is over. I can see albums, artist name ... but not the songs name nor the playlist.

    And of course, I can't play any songs.

    Right after I posted my prior comment my progress bar finally started to move. It too quickly jumped to about 75%. The next time I looked at it the big cloud and progress bar were gone. I thought everything was good... the list of artist appeared, the list of albums appeared. But the list of songs was still blank. If I select an artist I can see all their albums, If I select an album I can see all the songs but they all show 0:00. If I select one of those songs I get nothing.

     

    I also agree that the auto lock should be disabled (for this update). Even when I was downloading the iOS6 the progress would stop every time the screen went black.

    Happening here too: 4S with iOS6 and many thousands of songs stored with iTunes Match.

     

    Didn't Apple actually test iOS6 with a 4S?

    Gentlemen I've solved my problem (with the help of an other thread) !!

     

    1. Download and install iExplorer (Google it)

    2. Plug in iPhone first, then open iExplorer

    3. Delete the iPhone\Media\iTunes_Control folder (you can copy it to your laptop, just in case)

    4. Reboot the iPhone

    5. Turn on iTunes Match in settings.

    6. Start Music app

    I'm kinda leaning towards that idea of starting with a clean slate. With your comment that it runs better than it ever has is encouraging.

    I just wish someone from Apple would post a solution, this is incredibly frustrating

    I must say, this worked VERY well for me. I did hit my phone against the wall a couple times too, but I don't think that step is required.

     

    Thanks for the fix! I don't think you'd have to delete the entire folder, though. You can probably just delete the iTunes Match playlist files, but I didn't try that, I just went ahead and deleted it all, then I went back and reloaded my ringtones folder and playlist.

    Wow, many of you are having way too many problems, I just turned itunes match on in my ipad 2 and went over to the music app and withing 2 minutes all of my 25,400 songs were there. And it does stream rather than download, which is awesome.

    Perfect, this is the solution. Was trying everything for hours, downloaded iExplorer and deleted the iTunes_Control in Media section. Rebboted, and everything back to normal.

    Anyway, this is a serious uypgrade bug.

    Mine is still not working. But you said this streams instead of download? So the download function is not there? That is disturbing, I listing to my music all day at work and I have no wifi or signal. Plus I have to use my data plan to listen to music. What was wrong with the download function? I will not be renewing my match subscription if it only offers streaming.

    It doesn't support ONLY streaming. You can download to the device as well. However, I can't find a way to download just a single song, you pretty much have to download the entire album or playlist.
