Sep 19, 2012 5:19 PM in response to MICHAEL54AWESOMEby macjack,Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences folder and trash this file:
com.apple.finder.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

Sep 20, 2012 3:55 PM in response to MICHAEL54AWESOMEby macjack,Have you tried starting in Safe Mode and see if the problem still occurs?
Restart holding the "shift" key.
(Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)
If this works look in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items and disable any third party login items. Also look in /Library/Startup Items. Nothing is put in that folder by default, so anything in there is yours.

Sep 20, 2012 4:10 PM in response to MICHAEL54AWESOMEby troyswanson,I'm having a similar problem, although it's a lot more spotty. Sometimes it will work just fine, other times it will crash without any explaination. Opening a new Finder window which initially tries to open my Home directory seems to crash 100% of the time. However, using the Go menu to open a new window for Documents seems to work fine. From that window I can navigate to my Home directory without issue. I was able to successfully crash Finder again by selecting the device, and then selecting Macintosh HD. The type of view doesn't seem to matter.
Here's a link to the Finder crash report: http://pastebin.com/gBTcu6ti
I'm also experiencing some trouble with my menu bar. MICHAEL54AWESOME, are the icons in your menu bar disappearing and resetting every 5-10 seconds?

Sep 22, 2012 7:12 AM in response to MICHAEL54AWESOMEby macjack,★HelpfulBoot up holding command-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
The screen should give you these choices...
Restore from TM backup
Reinstall Mac OS X
Get help online
Disk Utility
First run Disk Utility Repair Disk, if you get errors run until no errors reported or reports "the disk cannot be fixed". Then, choose Reinstall OS X. This will be an install "in place" and shouldn't effect any of your own data or settings.

Sep 22, 2012 12:33 PM in response to macjackby MICHAEL54AWESOME,and also i ran the disk utilitty and it said nothing was wrong but just to be sure what disk should have i selected? the one i use to startup my mac or my internal hardrive disk?
-
Sep 22, 2012 3:40 PM in response to MICHAEL54AWESOMEby macjack,Either one. One can only Verify but not repair if your startup volume is mounted. The one in the Recovery can repair because your startup volume is not mounted. But if either reports OK, it's OK.
Try starting in Safe Mode and see if the problem still occurs?
Restart holding the "shift" key.
(Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)

I had that a few hours To open Finder you actually go to finder in the dock and click and hold until open comes up, thn click open when message comes up and says Finder Quit do you want to restore window. choose no.
Then I had issue with nothing was set in side bar and couldn't so I used Time machine to get preference setting from Yesterday. After replacement I restarted still had to restart manuallly the Finder. But the side bar settings returned.
I I went exploring and disabled USB Overdrive and NTFS for Mac control panels.
Bingo! Find came right up opened at login.

Sep 25, 2012 3:59 PM in response to macjackby MICHAEL54AWESOME,Its o my mac is back to normal and up n' running becuase i brought it to the genius bar and they just took my compter for a god 30 min and had to delete everything of it like a system restore and then they reinstalled os x mountain lion. they said it was an issue with the os x software and it was the only way to go but luckly i had a back up. not to recent but it had some files worth redownloading. I guess the moral is that if you had an issue like me... your out of luck...
