Sep 20, 2012 4:32 PM in response to a2k3sanby lcb10004,I'm having the same issue. I've tried many things listed in the community. There are a few threads on it and nothing seems to be working for me. A couple just just said it started working all of a sudden. I might just give up on mine. Your FaceTime has the same error too, right?
Mid 2009, Macbook Pro 13in running OS X 10.8.2, installed yesterday.

Sep 21, 2012 2:00 PM in response to lcb10004by Ralph Johns (UK),Hi,
At the timing of the First post iPhone 5s will have been on sale in some parts of the world for 8 hours or so.
It is now late on the 21st for me and nearly 22 hours since the "sales" started here.
That does not include "pre-orders" that may have in fact arrived early.
Some of this will be down to how busy the iMessages servers are.
(Some are predicting 8 million new units)

Dec 29, 2012 10:36 AM in response to a2k3sanby MassiveStunnah78,Hey Everyone!
After talking with a Apple Support member we have found this solution to fix the error of login into Face Time, IMessage, and game Center when upgrading to 10.8.2 OS X Mountain Lion.
Go into Terminal and either type or paste the following into the line - sudo nano /private/etc/hosts (press enter)
You will be ask to enter in your login password for your computer (You will NOT see the letters as you type. Press enter)
Look for any lines that content the following (apple.com, verisign.com, or verisign.net) I found two that were verisign.net.
Place the # symbol in the front of the line (you'll place it in front of a number which might startout 127)
Press the Control + O at the same time, then press enter to save
Press Control + X at the same time to exit
Close Terminal and then restart your computer
It worked for me!

Apr 23, 2013 7:31 AM in response to a2k3sanby Miisha,I have similar issue in 10.8.3 OSX running on iMac. Strange is, that both FaceTime and Game Center work on this computer, but Messages does not. While it tries to connect it displays grayed information about the account including the list of e-mails and phone number associated with my iMessage account, but then it fails with above mentioned message: "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later." There is nothing weird in my hosts file, it does not work even if I create new user on this machine. During registration imagent issues a lot of warnings that (some application) does not have capability: (Status). Mentioned application may be CalendarAgent, Mail, even Keynote. I have tried a lot of solutions found around, but nothing helped so far.

Apr 23, 2013 12:35 PM in response to Miishaby Ralph Johns (UK),HI,
Start with opening Disk Utility in Applications/Utilities
Use the First Aid tab and Repair Permissions.
Once that has run check the Contacts app.
Make sure the My Card (Head and Shoulders icon) is set to your Card.
In the past iChat has had issues if the "wrong" card is listed as the My Card or if no card has the Head and Shoulders icon.
If you need to change the My Card use the Card Menu in Contacts (make this My Card).
