Q: How to print with OS 10.8 and Canon LBP 3010?

I have installed OS X Mountain Lion on my MacBook 13 inches that I bought in 2008. I can't print anymore with my Canon LBP 3010 printer. Can anyone help me?

    Thank you for posting that. It looks correct.

    Can you do the same screen grab of the LBP30xx entry in Printers.

    Sorry. I just realised I asked you to remove the LBP from Print & Scan.

    So can you add it again and then show me its entry in System Information > Printers

    Thanks. Everything looks correct except for the print queue URI.

    I wonder if the HP could be interferring with the USB port? Did you have the HP and Canon working together on this iMac with a previous version of OS X?

    I have already posted an escalation with Canon INC about this issue. I will add your information to that escalation. Hopefully they will reply very soon.

    Yes, they work both on 10.7.
    HP Deskjet F370 is also working on 10.8. - Just some scanner problems but it's working. Also the scanner.

    Thank you. They will not I think...

    Got a reply from Canon INC this morning. They cannot replicate the issue either and are asking for a few items.

    1. The Mac's setup. You can get this from System Information. Select Hardware heading. The right pane will show Hardware Overview. Select all, copy and paste back here.

    2. Open Finder and navigate to /Library/Caches/Canon/CUPSCAPT/CCPD. Here you will see ccpd.conf. You can control click on this file and select to open with TextEdit. Then copy the content and paste back here.

    3. With Finder still open, select Go > Go to Folder and type /etc/cups/ and press Go. Here you will see the file printers.conf. You won't be able to open the file so select it and copy. Then navigate to your home folder and paste the file. You will be prompted to authenticate with an admin account to complete this task. Then open this file in Text Edit, select all content - copy and then paste back here.

    Thank you both for posting the information. I can see that you both are missing the printer mapping information. I cannot remember the exact entry and I don't have a copy from my test Mac which has the CAPT driver installed. But I believe it was not set the same as the example shown in the comment field.

    So I will reply Monday when I return to work.

    Sep 23, 2012 3:07 PM in response to PAHU

    Okay, this is what I have set in the ccpd.conf file for the LBP6300 I have connected via USB.

    <Printer Canon_LBP6300>

    DevicePath usb://Canon/LBP6300?serial=001E8F2968D0

    </Printer>

    So Amiram, you could try adding the following text in the ccpd.conf file and then saving the file. This text needs to appear between the line "#</Printer> and <Ports>.

    <Printer Canon_LBP3010_LBP3018_LBP3050>

    DevicePath usb://Canon/LBP3010/LBP3018/LBP3050?serial=0000A2A5GCkR

    </Printer>

    While for tonkberlin, your entry would be;

    <Printer Canon_LBP3010_LBP3018_LBP3050>

    DevicePath usb://Canon/LBP3010/LBP3018/LBP3050?serial=0000A289K32x

    </Printer>

    One other thing I noticed is that you both show LBP3200 in the comment text section of the ccpd.conf file. In comparison, the latest version of the ccpd.conf file shows no model, just XXXX. Here is the example from my Mac.

    # Printer entries

    #  Mapping each "Printer-Name" to "Printer Device Port".

    # The "Printer-Name" has to be identical to the CUPS printer queue name.

    #

    #  For example, if you prepare a printer named "XXXX" as a CUPS printer

    #  queue name, and the printer is connected to the USB port "/dev/usb/lp0",

    #  you can use the following three lines example just by removing the

    #  comment symbol "#" of each line.

    #<Printer XXXX>

    #DevicePath  /dev/usb/lp0

    #</Printer>

    So I am assuming that this file is present from a previous install for you both, instead of being replaced by the new v3.55 installer. So if manually modifying the text in this file does not work, then remove the printer from Print & Scan, trash this file and then run the CAPT installer again.

    PAHU, thanks! I tried both ways and they does not work.

    BTW: The ccpd.conf was not created after new installation of your step 2. I also never changed these file by hand...

    I also tried the steps described in

    Mac_CAPT_V355_uk_EN.dmg > DOCUMENTS > GUIDE-CAPT-UK > UNINSTALLING

    Enter the following folder locations, click [Go], then delete the files and folders.

    Delete Example: You can delete files and folders by dragging them to the [Trash] icon in the Dock.

    Location

    Files and folders to delete

    /Library/Printers/Canon/

    CUPSCAPT

    /Library/LaunchAgents/

    jp.co.canon.CUPSCAPT.BG.plist

    /Library/Printers/PPDs/
    Contents/Resources/

    Delete all the following files in the folders.

    CNMCxxxAUK.ppd.gz

    (xxx is a model name starting with [LBP].)

    I deleted all that files and folders, restart, install again Canon_CAPT_Installer.pkg and the printer is still in silence...
