Well, for the record my posts are in response to yours, BleedingStar.  Good results here on my dual card Mac Pro.

I am wondering why some people are reporting that 10.8.2 fixes the issue and some are not (like myself). Maybe it is due to what model of graphics card is used ?

I have MacPro with ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB graphics

    - it has 2 ports and I have 2 x 27inch cinema display monitors connected to this card.

    - when I have both monitors connected, I get black screens after using spaces and running apps at full screen (usually takes about 10 minutes for this to happen after login)

Perhaps 10.8.2 only fixed the problem for a different model of graphics card ? Does anybody else have an ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB graphics ?

    Tim,

That's because the issue that you are having, and the issue that 10.8.2 seems to fix (see the ORIGINAL post), aren't the same issue!  Those of us claiming a 10.8.2 fix are all using Mac Pro's with DUAL video cards and at least one monitor hooked up to each card (I have two in one, one in the other).  In addition, the issue is "Random Logouts", not black screens.

I'm sorry that you didn't get a solution with 10.8.2, but this thread addresses a different issue all together.

Hi guys been watching the tread for weeks as I have a Mac Pro, with 2 Radeon cards fitted, feeding 3 x 27" Apple Cinema screens, running 10.7.5

Its gotten a bit confusing over the last few replies, would you guys with 2 graphics cards, in a Mac Pro desktop, mind clarifying if you have your logout issues fixed with 10.8.2?

    SpaceDesign911,

Confirmed:  10.8.2 has apparently fixed my logout issues on my Mac Pro with 2 video cards and 3 monitors.  Two days of no random logouts!

On the duel video card MacPro I have, the issues seems to be somewhat addressed. Which is to say that I haven't had a random logout with spaces turned on since updating to 10.8.2 two days ago.

However I just got a another full crash. This was happening before as well and I belivew it is still related to the duel video cards.

Here is the crash reoport sent to apple. It's differant than the window server crashes that were causeing the logout issue but still referances the video cards

    Hi SpaceDesign911,

I can confirm that on my Mac Pro Desktop, with 2 graphics cards and 3 monitors attached, the logout issue is fixed with 10.8.2.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies, 3 out of 4 say the issue is fixed, the 4th issue appears vindicate the 3 but might be a different issue alltogether, Im dying to go to 10.8 but this issue has been holding me back.  Be good to hear from some others to know for sure the problem is gone.

Im running a 2012 Mac Pro with the Radeon 5870 & Radeon 5770, sssh, I know, tut tut and 3 27" Cinema display screens, like I said, dying to go to go 10.8 but this dual card issue has stopped me.  Fingers crossed that the issue is fixed for you who have upgraded.  More comments welcome.

    Way to go guys!

I haven't had any issues since 10.8.2 upgrade.  However, I tried going the two monitor route with 10.8.1 and it just didn't suit my workflow, so I went back to three--two on MDP-to-HDMI on one card and one on DVI on the other without using Spaces and I didn't have a logout/crash.  I have used Spaces now with the 10.8.2 upgrade and haven't had an issue.

Been running all day on 10.8.2. Seems to be smooth. Will let you know if i have any issues, but looking good so far!

10.8.2 has so far, fixed my problem with logouts while running with dual monitors with two seperate graphics cards.   Two cards, 1 monitor on each card.  Not what some were getting confused with 1 dual headed card.   And not any other confusing issues with setting security autologout or issues due to spaces.

So far, no logout and they used to happen about 10 min (max) into working.  Has been stable now for over 1hr.

10.8.2 seems to have reduced the log outs but unfortunately they're not eliminated. SInce I installed the update last week, I experienced 2 log outs (windowserver crashes) I got a Retina MB Pro with 3 monitors attached through usb graphic cards.

longtime_apple_usr_unhappy sorry to hear your having trouble. Mind me asking what is a usb graphics card? And how many cards in total are you using?

Trying to evaluate if your Mac Book Pro expierience is the same as the one we are discussing witht the Mac Pro.

Anyone else able to still confirm the Mac Pro issue is resolved with the update?

    Thanks in advance

Thanks for your help SpaceDesign911 !!

the usb cards I'm using are similar to these products http://www.diamondmm.com/BVU195.php .

    They run on displaylinkl software.

I have 3 usb cards, each monitor runs on 1 card. They worked flawlessly on my previous MB pro under snowleopard and lion. Also my new MB pro had no problerms with the setup under Lion. The problem only occured once I upgraded to Mountain Lion.
