Mine does something a little different. When I turn off lte I get excellent reception & my bars are full. When I turn lte on my signal drops low for some weird reason. As if the antenna is messed up.

My Verizon iphone5 does the same thing. My wife's iPhone 4 will have 4 3G bars and ill have one. But jumps to 4 then 3-2. In other areas at a standstill it'll jump from 3G 1 bar to lte 1-3 bars to roaming. I hope there is no prob with the antenna.

Unfortunately this looks like an apple thing. I use to have an android with LTE. I forgot to mention I'm in the Bay Area & LTE coverage is great here. But it seems like its either an antenna issue or the LTE chip. ***** that we just bought this product and other people are noticing this as well. There's another post where people are experiencing the same thing.

Ok... So I've ha this problem the same day I got the new IPhone 5. Phone would be out of service for 3 hours and when I do get service it's very bad reception. I'm currently with Bell and thought it was my carrier rather then the phone. I called technical support and they advised me to get a new SIM card. I got three SIM cards and still the same problem. So I went back o bell and got a new iPhone and still the same problem. This is most Lilly a software bug. Apple will be releasing a software update to fix this issue. I'm just as frustrated as all of you!

Spoke to a nice representative at Apple Care (800-MY-APPLE) and we're going to try to swap the HW on one of my two iPhone 5s to see if there was a bad batch of HW for both my iPhone 5 VZW's. Fingers crossed that this fixes my problem. Interestingly enough, they had no other reports of this problem, so I suggest that you contact them as well to report your problem if you're having an issue.
