I feel you but he deserves it   i wonder if anyone bothered to back up their old phones and then use that backup for the new iphone5... that is what i did and did not have any  wi fi issues, all my old settings were back including all my saved wi fi locations

Went to Apple Store and a Genius swapped out my device for a replacement device. Set up as a new phone at first to see if the issue had been resolved, and it worked fine. Then did a Restore from Backup to get all my old data back. Everything works fine now.

Definitely a hardware issue, for me anyway.

But WE are the customer, so, "CUSTOMER" support should fluently speak the language of the CUSTOMER.  There you are, defending every forgiener you come across as if they need defending.  I bet you are a Democrat.  I bet you believe in global warming and global economies and wind power and outsourcing our jobs as a good thing.  I just nearly lost my job as an American call center employee because T-Mobile decided to pull out because it's cheaper to pay $1/hr (yes $1/hr), to Phlipinos to read from scripts they won't stop reading from because they hardly speak English.  The fact that this guy managed to fix the issue was A) only a partial fix, because I can't run around asking McDonalds and Starbucks to rename their router for me, and B) blind luck.  Most likely, it was off of a script they guy was reading from.

I got lucky because my employer managed to land a new client 4 days before I was out of a job.

When I purchased my iPhone 4, the camera flash didn't work out of the box, I made the appointment and went to the store, and they did swap it out with a new phone, but, it was from the back of the store in an OEM box without accessories like charger, earbuds, etc.  I was told all exchanges are done with new phones, and that my phone would be refurbished, and sold as refurbished even though it was less than 1 week old when I exchanged it.

funny as after waited 12 hours and being second in line at Apple store i traded my black 16gb 4s for a shiny new white 32gb.

we are on ATT here in Ct.

no wifi issues at all but terrible standard 3g/4g/LTE....it was always slow going back to 3gs at our condo but this iPhone 5 is non existent EXCEPT for the wifi which works.

very wierd and hoping a software issues works its way out as i am a windows guy and other then iTunes and iPhone I am lost with Apple. Now my wife and girls left our family plan and went to Verizon and they get service all over house fine. So it has to be ATT correct?

and adding to post count also so you all with wifi issues get apple to lok at it and quickly too.

    Good Luck to ALL

Yeah. Same here. It was working poorly yesterday but got worse and worse. Now it just doesn't work on wifi. I've tried 2 different networks. No go. Speedtest.app doesn't even ping. I'll get bursts of usable data connection but a few seconds at a time. Going to try and reset the network settings. I hope 6.0.1 comes FAST.

Just to add my own experience here to the many others. My iPhone 5 crawled along on my home wifi (I have the latest Time Capsule).  I was getting 0.2 Mbps average speed with 10 attempts using Speed Test app.  After switching off WPA2 Personal security I got 37 Mbps averages speed with 10 attempts!  I am in Japan and have a fast internet connection.

I reckon this is a software issue related to using Wifi with secuity settings in place. Let`s hope for 6.01 soon to address this issue.

I'm also having this problem.  Wifi has slowed to a crawl even though my iPhone 5 shows full wifi signal strength.  I tried playing around with the network settings as some have suggested in the thread, but nothing seemed to make a difference.  Turning the phone off and then on again seems to have fixed the problem for the moment, however.

I was having the same problem and tried everything. I went out and bought a new belkin router and now it works perfectly! I think my netgear WTG624 router was just too old and wasn't compatible with the iphone5! Yay problem solved!

Ive been at the Mac store for 90 minutes. They swapped my V.64 for a new one. Still wont connect to internet using secured wifi. Unsecured wifi worked on both phones. They even opened a new airport. Connects to it, but no internet. Im still here.

What is a V.64? And what is a Mac store?

I have a genius bar appointment for tomorrow to take in two iPhone 5's for this. However, I happened to be at the mall this evening to see a movie so I stopped in and talked to the genius bar coordinator. They said that they have not heard of this issue. I said, "really? There are several on-going threads on this with pages of people posting that they have the same problem." The store representative said they have not heard anything from apple corporate, etc.

I was thinking about how I was going to test the new phones in the store tomorrow. I may bring in an extra access point.

I fixed this issue completely by adjusting my WiFi security settings.  I had WPA2 (with AES encryption).  I switched it to WPA2 (TKIP + AES), and it has been flawless ever since.  Seems like the iPhone has trouble with the AES.

neither of my iphone 5's will connect to my network.

i also have the netgear wgt624 router - i think i might need to upgrade, as this is quite old... it has worked great, and still works with all my other devices : /
