Or Google's thermonuclear war with Apple. It's just a matter of your perspective. But war it is, and no one likes it when one of their cities has been torched.

iPhone 5 will be released in my country maybe next month so I really need to see any response to the failure of apple new maps saying if they gonna remove it from the OS and release it in a future update when they fix all of this or release google maps app which is already done and waiting for approval from apple according to rumors tho but if it's really ready then let it released and tell us how long do you want to fix this and that's it apple. choose one of these solutions just to make us buy it without worries. I say this because I know the quality of your products is way way better than the others but to do this map app now after 5 OS releases, that makes me sad.

From reading this thread...it is obvious that Apple needs to offer a turn around solution to allow those that upgraded to 6.0 to revert back to 5.1.1.

I know there have been several posts here with the links to the version of iTunes needed as well as the 5.1.1 file.  I went to both and downloaded both...but cannot get the file to be recognized by iTunes so I can revert back to 5.1.1.

Can anyone post detailed instructions how?  I watched the You Tube video....but the main problem is how to get the 5.1.1 file in the format needed / or Itunes to recognize the file to allow the retrofit.

    Thanks in advance...

I really hate the new 6.0

PS..why did Apple change the dialer to a white screeen when all the others are darker colors.....?  Why did they remove the send button on the email apps?  (Yeah I know we now pull down the screen to refresh...but it seems that all Apple did on 6.0 was apply a new coat of paint and screw the customers due to their battle with Google...

way to go apple...alienate your customers in your own internal battles

The new apple maps is sorely lacking compare to google maps. I miss street view and the accuracy of google maps. I have tried what many have suggested and made an app out of google map's website, but you can't use street view and it a little difficult to use compare to the old mobile app. Any other suggestion for a map app?

You can get google street view back by installing the Live Street View app

    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/live-street-view/id486967765

It's $.99 but worth it under the circumstances.

Valmetshooter, if you're running iTunes 10.6, you just need to have saved the iOS 5 .ipsw file on your HD. In iTunes Option-click restore (Mac) and then you will be able to choose the .ipsw file. If iTunes says you're phone can't be synced because you need a newer version of iTunes, put the phone into DFU mode.

    Remember to BACKUP first.

I managed to go back after updating. Won't be updating again and I agree about the weird colour change.

Live Street View app is great indeed and slightly pacifies my anger. Thanks!

Steve Jobs admits that Apple doesn't know how to do maps and discusses that he wants to leave that in Googles hands. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru11F_JnyFM

There should be a class action against Apple for robbing customers of Apps that they paid for when they bought their products.  Other computer OP systems can be uninstalled if the user doesn't like them and they retain fully all the software previously bought.  I want Google Maps with StreetView returned.  "Apple Support" advised me to use Safari and browse to Google Maps and then I would have StreetView - not so!  Looks like they have seriously underestimated the backlash over this one.

Apple can take on Samsung, Google, Java etc  but they must be able to equal or better the opposition they so desperately want to beat. Now to read that any future Google Map App that is submitted may be blocked by Apple Store is just plain mean!

Come on Apple, do the right thing by your customers and let them decide which Map App they want to use.

Apple wake up and smell the coffee, I am living in Switzerland and my work depends on an accurate map app..I have been using G/Maps on my iPhone 3GS  recently 4S and iPad 2 for some time without a singe inaccuracy, not one.  This "Mess" you call Apple Maps is well embarrassing - it simply cannot be used or depended upon. My own house has disappeared,

You are the laughing stock of planet earth, never before has a company, particularly one in your position f***ed up on this scale.

Please have the decency and respect for your customers and address this fiasco quickly, I personally am walking around with my "state of the art" 4s in my pocket and have resorted to my faithful "Garmin" for work purposes.

Please stop insulting us with your "PR Gibberish" and take stock of what people are saying, or many will walk away.

    Yours,

    A very very disappointed customer,

    SM

Really so bad? Google maps in iPhone browser is still pretty good. Not ideal admittedly, and no street view, but still accurate and usable?

Nope - google maps using the browser is clumsy and difficult to use.

We. Need an App with Google Maps

Actually, not to worry.  When the largest CMA in

recorded history happens at the end of the year,

we'll be back to bear skins and stone knives after

all the sattelites are fried and the power grid is

    just a smoking ember.
