Just a note that turning off Traffic from location services (system services) resolved my battery drainage problem.

Ignore my earlier post, battery was still draining after that mod, and kept doing so until I disabled traffic in the new Maps app. Now it's at least as good as before. @apple, you need to disable maps traffic by default. It drains battery even not active.

Very obviously... I want to downgrade to iOS 5.1.1.... Even there is a bug on Traditional Chinese input keyboard....

    Ok,

I've done a few things over the weekend.

§ I turned pretty much everything off (iPaperWeight!)

§ Did and factory reset (didn't do a great deal)

§ Did a full backup and restore (again, not a great difference)

§ Turned a lot of features back on (notifications, mobile data, location services ..etc ..etc) but I turned off traffic (as discussed on this thread).

Result: Battery has gone back to normal and not seeing any significant draining issues.

Conclusion: What ever this traffic thing is doing, it's not killing my phone. I suspect someone in Apple will be furious looking at that feature.

I've been monitoring this thread for the last few days and it looks like a lot of folks are annoyed (clever apple discussion starred out what I really thought ) but in reality, upgrading to a N.0 version has it's hazards. One must take the salt with the sugar.

    Best of luck

    Eoin

I have turned off traffic this morning and battery life is a lot better! but not as good as before iOS 6.0

This is solved by turning off the traffic updates. So to each of you, coming on the forum and whining, do what the heck we are telling you to do and the battery prob will be solved.  I'm sure apple will have a perm fix at some point, but for now, just do it and quit crying about it.

Sadly traffic isn't the cause in my case. I turned it off, along with everything else that could cause a potential drain on the night I updated..... Of had enough problems with the 4s battery to risk any further drain! Sadly it hasn't helped in my case. My best stats since update are today..... With 1 hour 23 use I'm on 18% battery and nearly 8 hours in standby..... Appalling in my opinion.

Well, in my opinion the battery life with iOS 6 is now much better!

1 % left and I have 8 hrs and 17 minutes usage and 1 day 7 hrs standby time. (I browsed the web, sent some E-Mails with pictures & received some text E-Mails, made some calls, used iMessage, Siri, Facebook, iCal, Contacts and other apps like Dropbox. Also I have 2 E-Mail accounts on "Push" and iCloud activated with all its features, except iCloud Mail and iTunes Match!)

With iOS 5.1.1 I hardly reached 6 hrs usage time.

I noticed some battery draining issues since I've updated to iOS 6. Usually iPhone battery doesn't last too long, but iPad does. And that is what seems weird to me. The iPad battery is draining like an iPhone. I turned off the Safari iCloud to try to keep my battery running longer.

You should have easier ways to downgrade to a previous version in cases like these. It is acceptable that battery does not last too much on devices with that many features, but the battery performance decreasing beacuse an upgrade doesn't seem very wise for me.

In my case, my 10-15% battery level drop (per hour) was caused by my Exchange mail/calendar/contacts accounts.  Toggling them to off (then later, back on) seemed to fix my battery life problems.  Longer post here:

This can be my answer too, I had seen the same probs with iOS 4.x and they got fixed doing the same you did. But that was long tme ago so I was not thinking on this. I am on the process of full reseting this iphone 4.

    Hi AbacusPete !

Have tried everything from shutting down all Location Services to shutting down the iCloud completely !

Have restored and rebooted the phone as well !

Nothing works. With 3-4 hrs of usage and abt 8 hrs of standby the battery is down to 18 % already. Help !!

Need a new update ASAP or fresh ideas !

i have tried this following steps and it worked just fine for my case. start with 100% battery at 8.30 AM this morning. actively used IP4 with phone calls, lots of emails, appStore updates, tweets, whatsapp, iMessages on 3G and wifi. According to "BatteryWatch" app my IP4 battery would stand until 7.00 PM but at 3.00 PM i decided to charge my IP4 when it reached 35%.

So here's what i did last night:

    1. When i looked closely on Settings > General > About > Diagnostics & usage > Diagnostics & usage Data, i found that there are a lot of "webbookmarksd..." error logs. Each error events occured almost every five minutes. I browsed through online forums and i found out that "webbookmarksd..." is the background process of the iCloud Safari Sync. Somehow it doesnt work as it should be and continuously forcing to sync so it makes my IP4 generates heat and drains battery

    2. I deciced to turned off the iCloud > Safari Sync

    3. I read that "webbookmarksd..." will run again every time you run safari, so i (temporarily) restrict safari from Settings > General > Restrictions. Now i use Chrome as my IP4 browser

    4. I restarted the device by holding the power+home button 10 secs until the apple logo appear

    5. I let my IP4 standby with 3G from 1.00AM with 70% battery and found it 32% at 6.30 AM
