Q: iPhone 5 wifi issues

My iPhone 5 connects to wifi networks and remembers them, but receives absolutely zero data through the network. LTE and 3G no problem... Off to the repair shop (after 3 hours of ownership...) or any ideas??

What is everyone using to measure packet loss?  I just made a video of my 2 iPhone5s vs iPad2 on speedtest.net that I'm going to take into the apple store.  Is there some other app or website I can use for packet loss?

My wife and I just left the apple store concerning her iPhone 5, her wifi would not work on our home network. No matter what we tried. They didn't even attempt to try it because I told them I tried it all. They replaced her phone. My iPhone 5 had a loose power button, I could wiggle it. I told them this is a new phone and it shouldn't be doing that. They totally agreed. They replaced my phone on the spot as well. Kudos to apple. Great customer service!!!!!

I use a Cisco 1142N AP in my house. Switching from "AES CCM" to "AES CCM + TKIP" helped. Give it a shot.

I was having long ping times, slow download (went from 28.0 mbps to 0.15mbps). I finally figured out that renewing the lease fixed it. Like a charm. Didn't read above thread to see if this was already discovered, but it worked for me.

I have created a video on my wifi problem.  As mentioned in yesterday's message, only the black iphone 5 has issue.  The white iphone 5 has no problem at all.  I have added in an iphone4 to the video as well for comparison.  I started right next to my router.  At start, the black iPhone 5 failed to pick up 2 other networks in range.  Then I walked into a room that is only 10 ft away from the router.  Black phone loses all connection (no check next to SSID and wifi symbol changed back to 3G).  This is a major problem and I have reseted all setting and changed router security type, etc and it still doesn't work.

    Hi.

When I connect to my G network I have fast speeds all over the house.

When I connect to my N network the speed drops down to almost nothing.

Shouldn't the N be the fastest?

    Something is clearly wrong.

My setting are exactly the same for both home networks. They are just running on separate antennas.

    Don

I am getting similar issues on my works Netgear router but home apple time capsule is fine.  When at work it will be fine for a second then take ages to connect !  Not impressed as this is a brand new phone and should be working at least as good as the Iphone 4 which I previously had which worked fine on any router!

IS this a hardware or software problem, i.e do I need to get a replacement handset or Not?

I'm from Melbourne, Australia. I have a black 32Gb iPhone 5 that is wi-fi bereft.

I have tried all the fixes suggested on this thread & no joy connecting to home wi-fi, even with all security turned off on my modem. Yesterday I went to the local shopping mall & connected to their free wi-fi in seconds.

Today at work I can't even get my Telco's 3G network either - says the server is not responding. No internet at all.

Also losing battery power at a great rate. I lost 6% power in just 12 minutes trying to connect to 3G at lunchtime. Very disappointing.

I have an appointment to see a genius on Thursday night. Hopefully I can have my phone replaced.

We have 2 64GB Verizon iPhone 5's and both of them are doing the same thing.

There was a moment when I speedtested it and it was blazing fast over 26mbps download on WiFi,

and then all of a sudden tried it again to show someone how fast the speed test were, and it was going at around 3-5mbps download and the upload seems to be consistent with all uploads rating at our internet upload speeds of around 5mbps.  Its just the download for me, is anyone else experiencing this?

And if its uploads are consistent would that mean this is more than likely a software issue?

Once again, for everyone experiencing the main problem of this thread : connected to wifi but no internet acces exept if you change your security to WEP or no security, ask for a replacement at your local Apple Store. Even if they don't have iPhone 5 in stock, they probably have replacement phone and they will be ok to swap your phone.

Just explain the problem comes from WPA2, that you're sure of this because you tested it in multiple network and because more and more people are complaining about the same issue in Apple Support Communities. They will change your phone and it should solve your problem.

The sooner you do it, the better it is. In few days/weeks the replacement phones will maybe not be brand new phones.

Good luck to everyone and thanks to everyone who posted here. And sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language.

I'm in the uk. Also having wifi issues. It finds my router no problem and signal strength is ok and on par with my 4s and iPad. But things just don't load! I find my self constantly restarting apps or refreshing safari to get things to load. Eventually it works but its very slow and can certainly see a difference between this and my old 4s.

I've not really don't any other test as yet, tbh I thought it was my router at first and reset it a couple of times.

I'm connected with N. I may try g later and see if it makes a difference.

My "local" Apple store is three hours away, and the AT&T stores are totally out of stock. I called AT&T and they agreed to send me a replacement phone, but couldn't give me a specific date when it would ship.
