Each time I try to start safari it says safari quit unexpectedly I think this only started after I upgrated to mac os x 10.7.4. How can I fix this?

Langis, please copy that report, and paste it in your next response to us, OK?

It often gives us a strong hint as to the culprit . . .

The Crash Reports are actually in the Users/Home library, which unfortunately is hidden in 10.7. & 10.8

To find the Users Library, Click on the desktop to get the Finder menu.  Then go up to  "Go" in the menubar, while holding  down the option key. You'll see the User Library in the drop down list.  Then go do to the Logs folder > Crash Reporter file. Your Safari crash report  should be in there.

Select the text, press Apple Key with the letter "c" key.

come back here, and in your response, press the Apple key with the letter 'v" key.

That should paste it back here for us.

First, remove all the Rapport files.

Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

Type or copy / paste:    /Library/Rapport

Click Go then move all the files in bold print above to the Trash.

Now update to Safari 6. Apple has not posted a Safari 6 standalone installer but there is a workaround.

Then click the link posted by:  gregoryfromcork

That will automatically download this file >

    Now quit Safari.

Go to your Downloads folder and double click that file and follow the instructions for installing.

Then restart your Mac, try Safari.

I hope removing Rapport fixes your issues but there are heaps of reports here of Safari 5.1.6 failing completely after the last OS 10.7.4 update. Apparently the only sure cure is to upgrade to Safari 6.

Allan, you're so right.  I think that's what Carolyn said, as well.

IMHO, it wouldn't work at all with Rapport.  Then upgrading would be icing on the cake.

In order to remove Rapport, you need to turn Safari off first.

Then, follow this path that Carolyn gave you:

Put all of those found into your Trash.

    Restart SAfari.

    Any better?

    I don't have a /Rapport folder in /Library! seems odd.

I seem to remeber trying this a while back when I first started dealing with this. Could I have deleted the entire folder by mistake?

and would it not get replaced in subsequent re-installs of OS 10.7.4, Safari 6, and 10.7.5 update?

Safari been crashing on Opening for some time

    Have done the following:

    - re-installed 10.7.4

    -updated to 10.7.5

    -trashed webkit,

-downloaded Safari 6 install package, installed Safari 6, Restarted and Launched Safari

most recently I got the Safari Window to show up, which it had not in the past, but don't see any rotating circle indicating connection - crashes in about 5 - 10 seconds

thanks in advance for any support...

Please start your own new topic, OK?  That way we can concentrate on your problem, and not get confused with our Original Poster, Langis06.

Have you removed Rapport?  Did you restart Safari.  Any more crash reports???
