Sep 24, 2012 4:36 AM in response to Al_Dracby AwayBBL,Not sure why getting a replacement would solve the problem...
I was able to get things going by turning on by setting "Enable WMM (Wi-Fi multimedia) setting" on my NetGear router. I am using an iPhone3gs.

Sep 24, 2012 4:39 AM in response to tobifsby Mc P,Sorry if this is a repeat - couldn't see any posts on OS6 for the 4S, but I have had a similar issue with wifi connection errors on the 4S, so I assume there is a software problem as this connection failure did not occur with OS5

Sep 24, 2012 5:16 AM in response to tobifsby Merc42016,Similar problem but my mine and the wifes will connect to wifi with no problem can turn off cellular data off and works great, but when cellular data is on even though indicator is displaying usage through wifi it is using and burning up my data. Verizon said this is a known issue and are helping me with data until this is resolved. Went to Apple store said this was the first they have seen of this they swapped the device but failed to test the new device there, went home and same problem. I then noticed when i returned home mine was doing the same thing. Hope Apple fixes this soon thhis is a big issue.

Sep 24, 2012 5:29 AM in response to tobifsby lfdorries,My iPhone 4S kept dropping out. Going back and forth.
I found the following setting in my router
Mode
Select the wireless mode you want to use. The options are:
- Up to 54 Mbps. Legacy Mode, with a maximum speed of up to 54 Mbps for b/g networks.
- Up to 145 Mbps. Neighbor-Friendly Mode, with a speed of up to 145 Mbps in the presence of neighboring wireless networks.
- Up to 300 Mbps. Performance Mode, with a maximum Wireless-N speed of up to 300 Mbps.
The default is Up to 145 Mbps, which allows all 11b and 11g and 11n wireless stations.
Changed it to default, and so far it connects and stays connected ?

Sep 24, 2012 5:49 AM in response to tobifsby balabol,I have worked around that issue for now. I would loose internet connection after few seconds on WPA2 as many of us but what seemed helped me is on page 12 where somebody mentioned that the problem is in AES algorithm. But he said change settings to TKIP and AES in router, in my case it didn't worked. same issue. Tried TKIP only and it worked flowless since then, after few hours tried changing to AES only, same problem - loosing net after few moments, so the problem is with AES. Back on TKIP and all works great.
I changed one setting in my router (DIR-615):
WPA mode: WPA2 only. (left unchanged)
Cipher Type : TKIP and AES chnaged to TKIP only
everything else left untouched
so my connection is secured and no more connection dropping. WiFi works fast too.

Sep 24, 2012 5:54 AM in response to balabolby Mr_Wal,Thanks for that but my netgear router shows no option for TKIP or AES just WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK? This sounds like its a software issue, but not sure why some poeple are finding replacing the handset works?

Sep 24, 2012 6:06 AM in response to tobifsby iWright75,I am also having very similar WIFI issues with the new iPhone5 32GB Black. I have read all the other complaints about this issues, and tried the few fixes that were suggested, but nothing seems to work.
LTE works perfectly, 3G works fine as well. I have tried connecting to both G & N wireless and both 2.4 & 5 GHZ but with no luck. I would tend to think this is a software issue, however, I am hoping that Apple will release either an update or a fix, ASAP, after upgrading from a 4S with no issues I am slightly aggrivated with the new iPhone5 and the wifi issues.. Come on Apple... Must every new release have some type of "Gate" Headline.. (Anntenta Gate, Whitegate, Mapgate, and now Wifigate!
If you uare having Wifi issues, please post it here, the more users that complain hopefully the quicker a fix will come..

Sep 24, 2012 6:18 AM in response to tobifsby metalsiren@1,DONT!!! take back the phone... this is a software issue and not a hardware one.... I dont think apple tested this that well. dont forget WPA2-AES is the only serurity per Wireless 802.11n standard that will get you those high wireless data rates. (that or no security)....
only thing you can do is hold tight for a fix... or try no security, or WPA-TKIP (if you do TKIP you loose the 802.11n rates so just be aware)
I do enterprise wireless for a living and lots of companies have gone thoguh similar issues.

Sep 24, 2012 6:20 AM in response to tobifsby csyoung04,I noticed right off the bat an issue with my iPhone 5 but its a bit different. If I use 802.11g it works fine, but when I switch to 802.11a, its terrible. slow thruput and constantly dropping off the network. Its not a coverage issue, I have multiple 802.11a devices in the same room that are rock solid in terms of signal strength and thruput.
