I never had any FaceTime issues until I upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 6. Now I'm constantly getting the following error message:

"Poor Connection

The video will resume automatically when the connection improves."

I just tested with SpeedTest and I'm getting 19mbps download 2.5mbps upload.

It happens with anyone I FT with iPhone or iPad

Anyone else having this problem?

iPhone 3G, iOS 4.2, iTunes 10.2.2.12 for Windows

YES!! I have this problem too! I have a 4 and I have RARELY had ANY issues with FaceTime and have been using it over a year now since I got the phone.. everyday basically I've used it to call Deaf friends who use ASL(American Sign Language) and the picture has always been crisp and clear. Now this bull crap happening.. today I couldn't have a 5 minute conversation on it without the quality deteriorating and saying poor connection (there is no poor connection- internet is fine!) and then saying Reconnecting... my friend was too frustrated to wait for it to clear up after at least 5+ times of calling each other back! UGH

APPLE needs to fix this ASAP

Having the same problem over here. I'm on an iPhone 4S and good wifi (so is the person I am calling). After updating to iOS 6, every time I FaceTime I always have issues with connection and/or picture quality. I hope Apple fixes this soon.

Right- myself and the other person has good wifi. There have been no changes. The only change is the iOS 6.

I used it yesterday and day before well ever since the upgrade and there's been minor connections issues but today was the worst and we are really sick of it. I hope someone who knows anything about this will enlighten us. I wonder how many more people have the issue.

If you are unable to use FaceTime or locate the FaceTime app on your iPad 2 or later or iPod touch, try the following:

    1. If FaceTime is not available in Settings: Note that FaceTime may not be available on devices purchased or used in certain countries, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
    2. In Settings > General > Restrictions, verify FaceTime and Camera are On. Disabling Camera also disables FaceTime.
    3. Update to the latest version of iOS.
    4. Restore your device:
      1. Back up your device to iCloud or iTunes.
      2. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
Note: This will erase all user data from your device.
      3. When complete, configure your device by selecting your region and language and then restore your data using the iCloud or iTunes backup.
Note: When setting up and restoring a backup from iTunes, ensure that your computer's language, country, and date and time are set correctly.
      4. If you still cannot locate the FaceTime app, try turning it on at Settings > FaceTime.

This does not belong under this question. This is unrelated. The issues the other two people and myself are having is not that.

Meant for daulan's post. And there are only 4 posting on here. I sincerely hope this issue will not continue because its really upsetting. It may not be a big deal for some but for thosein the Deaf community- it is a huge deal because it's one of the only ways I can see some of my friends and talk to them and its one of the main reason I bought the iPhone also because its awesome haha. I really hope we can get some info from someone.

I have the same problem, but with my ipad after upgrading to ios6. I've been searching for days if anyone got the same issue. Finally I found this thread. My wifi works, my PC connected just fine. The signal on my ipad shows it's strong. But nothing seems to be transmitted. My facetime picture quality not that great, and I keep getting that message

    "Poor Connection

The video will resume automatically when the connection improves."

I will call apple and report the issue. Good idea, Asle12. we all should call.

This is brutal! I've used FaceTime on my 4S and iPad 3 on iOS 5 without issue all the time. As soon as I upgraded to iOS 6 I constantly get

    "Poor Connection

The video will resume automatically when the connection improves."

I barely can get 10 seconds anymore! The picture quality and performance makes FaceTime utterly unusable and that's no exaggeration. Anybody I used to FaceTime with all the time now has to end up calling me cause being cut off every 10s isn't very productive. Using it for long distance calls is no longer an option, thanks Apple!

Just now, my brother and his wife were ready to tell my dad he was going to be a grandfather. This being his first grandchild, I wanted to see his reaction and with me living an 8 hour drive away, FaceTime was the solution. At least it was before iOS 6. What I saw was my dad then I hear my brother say,

    "Uh dad, ....."

    "Poor Connection

The video will resume automatically when the connection improves."

    "Reconnecting"

    "Connection lost"

I quickly go to the iPad, also on iOS 6, to connect with my brother again and I've missed it since in the first second of "poor connection" nobody noticed that it froze, the good news was heard and Apple caused me to miss a great family moment. Once again, THANKS APPLE! So, in the first second after reconnecting I realized that I missed a great moment, I take the chance to ask my dad how he felt. I see my dad about to smile, screen freezes and

    "Poor Connection

The video will resume automatically when the connection improves."

    "Connection lost"

This is not an issue with my network, nor is it an issue with my cellular network. It was working without any problems on my iPad on the 18th, when I used it to talk to my girlfriend, before I updated it on the 19th and the iPhone was able to FaceTime without issues on the 19th before I updated it on the 20th. It's very clearly iOS 6

    Thanks again Apple!

I'm so sorry!! That is awful!! When we have been able to enjoy this service thus far and when such a service has become an important part of our lives and then suddenly it's taken away- well it feels pretty tragic even if the sounds dramatic, it feels that way.

Today I was able to successfully have a wonderful lengthy conversation on FaceTime to our surprise and delight. My friend asked me what did I do how did I change it and get it to work to which I replied to him that I hadn't done a thing! He thinks perhaps apple IS actually working on it however I stated that others like yourself are still having issues. Maybe it's off and on and will get better in time?? I hope!
