This worked for me...actually I think my battery life is better now than before the update.  Great post.

I left my phone off charge overnight, and was still at 100% when I checked it in the morning.

Thanks Bruno, when i get home, i will try your solution, but this is not my objetive, i am trying to expose that we are talking about an enterprise that earns thousan million at year, They have months and a big team for prepare and avoid this kind of issues! That's i think, all the time we have to suffer battery issues. Since i buy mi 4S i meet friends that put low brightness, put 2G, avoid use Facebook, Twitter, so i ask them, Why you buy an iPhone if you will turn off all the features? This is not something that should happen with companies that claim build the best electronic consumer devices.

Now we have keep looking for a interim fixes, i think that Apple are able to fix our problem so fast.

Same problem, plus a significant problem with "sharing Internet" with my iPad... bad thing.

iphone 4s is still having big time battery loss.  Does not seem as warm this AM , however, so maybe it is getting better??  Have not done a restore yet as i don't think that i should have to go through all this time and effort for an update that should be somewhat simple to do.  And it did not seem to work for many of the others anyway.

I have tried many of the other suggestions here, to no avail, and hope that i rememberd to undo all those.

I also have a ipad3 (wifi ony) and the update went well there and it is not eating through batetry like the phone.

Has anyone tried turning off the weather widget from the notification window?  I did that on my wife's phone (4S) and she seemed to get a lot better.  I even turned it off on my 5 as well.  I mean either way, i still have to make a click to see the weather.  LOL

same problem. when using 3G, it is consuming 1% of every 2-3 minutes. and cannot open cellular data only (have to tap 3g on, and then close it again, only then i can use edge only). if 3g is closed, no problem (stand by- speaking times normal) but it is a smart phone, right? and it is very unpleasent to be in battery stress all the time.

C'mon Apple - fix this and roll out an update.  Who has time to read all these posts and decipher which suggestions to use!

Ok i reset my iphone 4s as a new device. So now it's a brand new device right? I set all crazy settings to off (icloud, bluetooth, location services etc).

My battery drains still 1% per 2-3-4 minutes. This with surfing the web via 3g. It makes me crazy. What else can you do?

Problem looks like some combination of 3g (and maybe safari?).

Setting up your iphone 4S as new does work really well and improve battery life significantly... But I am here to report after 2 days of use, my battery life is draining out rapidly again. (It was around 60% when I went to bed and the following morning, I found my iphone dead.)

Why do we users have to suffer for each major iOS release? This is beginning to get really annoying.

I was having this problem for my iPhone 4 -> very high battery drain after doing the IOS 6 upgrade.  FYI I did my upgrade via WiFi and I use iCloud backup.  After reading these posts I decided there were 2 possible solutions:

    (1) Plug the iPhone physically to my computer/iTunes and do a full restore as a new iPhone.  This means I would have to put in all of my email accounts (7 of them) and other settings manually again.  This did not sound like fun.

    (2) Plug the iPhone physically to my computer/iTunes and do a manual sync.  Then do a hard reset on my iPhone and then restart and do another sync to my computer/iTunes.

Naturally I started with (2) and I am reporting that this worked for me.  In fact, I disconnected my iPhone from computer and charging nearly an hour ago and it stills shows 100%.  It would have been considerably drained before this.

I noted that when I did (2) that there were numerous steps being done by the sync that took considerable time.  I bet Apple does have some secret sauce stuff going on that just works better doing the manual sync with USB cord back to the computer/iTunes.

Good luck to all ... I am good to go.

It has been 3 days now, and I can report disabling Safari in Restrictions, and then doing a reboot, has stopped the higher battery drain for me.  I did not want to try a restore as new and reset everything.  I did not do this in combination with other attempted fixes so I know this is the step that worked for my situation.  (Keep in mind our battery issue may not all be from the same issue, so fix for one person may not be for another.  My wife's phone is fine and was upgraded in the same way and has mostly the same Apps and settings).
