Hey one more note. Prior to doing the restore in recovery mode, my phone got really warm but doesn't now that its not running processes in the background. The genius I talked to said he is yet to actually have a person come back after loading their phone this way.
Also for you 64 GB users, as long as you have backed your phone up, you can still get ALL of your files back without doing a RESTORE from backup. The software issue results from doing a full restore from backup (my understanding is it affects the firmware of the new phone). While it takes more work to do things individually, lets be fair, we are talking about trouble shooting tech issues on our smartphones. I was annoyed but I just sucked it up and got it done. Now I have a better phone. I can think of a hundred worse problems that don't have solutions so don't fret on a little extra work. In my opinion 64 gb of work stuff should be properly backed up on an external hard drive as well. I work in graphic design, use my phone like crazy for work but never keep more on my phone than can be backed up by the cloud. I can't even imagine needing 64 gb of work material on my phone on a daily basis.

I too am having issues with battery life. Seems to drop off quickly, no LTE or anything like that. Definitely not the advertised hours.
I'd hate to restore as new, since I would lose all my settings on the apps I have. Seems like this always needs to be done.
Hopefully there will be am upgrade that will fix it.

so after my second battery recycle (complete discahrge complete recharge)
No change. so this morning after my phone was
72%--- 45mins usage----2 hours 57mins standby
then i did a reset of settings i got
46% --- 1hours 54 mins usage (114) --- 5 hours 1 minute
lets do the math
first part of the day was 28% battery depletion in 45 minutes... so 45 mins divded by 28% is 5.178% a minute?
the second part of the day was 26% usage in 69 minutes ... so 69 mins divided by 26% is 2.65% a minute
someone check my math
no thats wrong... firgure that out

just to clarify...by this method do you mean wipe the phone and set it up as a new one and pick and choose the apps i want to load?
is there a way of keeping my sms messages?

Subtle. This presupposes that I don't have a back up information. I do. That's not the point. The point is I need a carbon copy of my phone as it existed before hand. Not restoring for the backup is not an acceptable option. If I wanted a fresh new phone each and every time I upgraded and I would continue to do what I did back in the days of Windows mobile. That is buy whatever and the newest most capacious phone that existed was regardless of manufacture or operating system. I don't live like that anymore.
I have about 297 apps on my phone currently. There meticulously placed in folders and group on pages which I can quickly access when I need to use. They include date wheels, calculators, statutes and codes, medical references and other documents that I want to have immediate access to both on my iPad and my phone. Restoring the data alone takes hours. It would take days to read organize the folders. So, once again, despite your passive low-key dismissal, it is not a viable option to not restore the backup. While that may work for your average phone user it doesn't work for me, and it doesn't work for people like.
Also, for your edification, iCloud doesn't back up every thing. It only backs up PDF to let the phone know where to put the apps and data sets of information with in the apps so that you keep your same settings, voice memos, et cetera. You don't need 64 GB to backup a 64 GB phone. Also, you don't back up things that are stored already on icloud such as music of which I have 7 GB on the device. It be better if you were better informed before you started casting aspersions. Even if done subtly.

Yup. Same thing here. Just by typing my battery drops about 1% per Minute. That's not cool. It also gets really hot when I try doing other things that take more power. :P Apple, fix it!!! ;)

I lost 40% of battery in 3 hour of not even doing anything on iPhone. Wifi and Bluetooth on. Man this thing *****.. Now with my cable at home I can't charge it at work. Or I have to spend another 30$ for a cable ? what a scam, I'm seriously considering switching to gallaxy

My iPhone 5 16 GB currently sits at Usage>Time since last full charge>Usage 6hrs 51minutes Standby 1 Day, 10 hrs.
I've not used phone much today but alot of people have described really bad battery issues in standby also.
As I type this I'm at 3%, it was just at 4% but i put brightness to full- now 2%! I may get the chance to press 'add relply'!

Seems like everyone is experiencing these issues. I charged my phone a few time already and I'm carrying my cable with me everywhere I go. Went to Apple to get the adapter and was told they aren't coming out until next month. This is crazy.

I want to say I have not even made a call on my iPhone 5 today...pulled most of the notification alerts off and by noon had less than 1/3 battery life. Unbelievable. Please help APPLE. To add injury to insult, I did have a spare charger and clock charger for the iPhone 4, but no spares yet for this one. So, it should die any minute and I have nothing to recharge with. This is crazy.

YOU all have got to call support and make them aware of this as a huge issue ... it's NOT trending for them! I just spoke with them and I am only one of a FEW who have called ... they DO NOT look at these threads! CALL them!

I took a photo of my home screen an hour ago and one just now and I have lost 16% in that hour just in standby mode, I called apple as I stated in another post and told them that I had charged it twice already today, and now it needs it third charge so it's not dead in the morning currently at 37% so so poor.
They said take it to a store for replacement gave me case number and they will replace it as this is not good. So log the complaint as he said this was his 3rd call and am sure there will be more!
Hard reset all that turning off didn't work for me!
whats the point in turning stuff off?
Its meant to be a smartphone NOT a dead phone!

I also am having major issues with my iphone 5 battery dying very quickly, Everything that kills the battery life has been turned off and battery still only lasts a total of about 5 hours, with out even using it. I killed it completely yesterday, fully charged it overnight and then when I got to work this morning I looked at it and it seemed to be doing a little better. I had 4G when I got to the office, then throughout the day I looked at my battery occasionally and saw that it started dropping at a rather fast pace. So I watched it longer and notived my phone would switch from no service to edge network to 4G back to no service all in a matter of about 15 seconds. I continued watching my phone and it did it for a solid 4 minutes all while my battery life dropped from 88% down to 79%. Anybody else notice this problem? I haven't watched it up until today but I wonder if it does that while it is in my pocket and this is what is causing the battery issues. I am also curious, if any one else notices this problem, would it be a software or hardware problem.
