    Back up your data, if you don't want to lose it. Use Time Machine or "cloning" software.

     

    Hard disk drives sometimes fail without warning. If yours is making noises that you are not accustomed to hearing, it's a warning.

     

    They are not terribly difficult or expensive to replace, but if it fails and you have no backup of the data it contains, it's gone for good.

    Ok thanks, I just wondered if this is something to be worried about, I know its an old computer, and I have used it allot. I just want to make it last as long as possible.

    It is something to worry about, and the time to worry is right now. Follow John Galt's advice and back up at once (Time Machine or a Clone). Then replace the hard drive, please do not wait.

    Ok I have already gotten in touch with someone who works on macs for a living, he should be able to help me.
