Q: My Friends Notify Me Not Working

Although my entire family has iOS 6 installed, the "Notify Me" feature does not work.  I have My Friends turned on in the notification center.  What am I missing?

Everybody needs to make sure that they are turning notification on in the settings for "find friends app". Go to setting, notification center, find friends, and turn of notifications the way you want them... hope this help... it did for me!

Hello Lisa and everyone else, aparently they fixed the bug, I erased the app (for a second time) and install again but this time the problem was solved. So if you've Try before go ahead and do again. Regards

"Location based alerts (requires iOS 6)"

You need iOS 6 on both devices

Location based alerts are not supported for 3Gs, iPad2 and iPod touch.

    Dear Anirog,

Your logic makes sense, but i yet have to try it. I'll update you once i succeed to convince my wife to upgrade. She is mocking me now coz i dont have google maps & youtube, hence she doesnt want to be in the same shoes.

Apple maps is nice, but since it doesnt have routes as google had ( i use it a lot through find friends to route to my wifes location as it calculates the time in distance when i wait for her ) , it doesnt help me much. The youtube app ***** due to bad resolution. Currently i use Video Downloader Super Lite, to view videos to obtain same quality as IOS 5 youtube. They are ups & downs in IOS 6 unfortunately. I just upgraded hoping for a better battery life but lol thats just a dream.

    Thanks for the great suggestion.

    i'll update u soon !

    Hello Tumberry,

after reading all the above comments and doing some recall I have got to the conclusion that actually my notification button start working after my boyfriend update to iOS 6 and I naively thought maybe someone in apple fixed the bug. Anyway if you have a way to back up the google maps app with certain secure programs like copytrans that you didn't hear from me. Well lucky you! Maybe someone could back up the app and try to past it on an updated phone to see if it works. Let me know if anyone can.

    Hi

Mine has now suddenly started working, but there is about a 5 minute delay from someone leaving and getting the notification. I just appears as a banner on the front of phone. There is no text message or email.

My boyfriend and I are fully updated to iOS6. Sometimes the Notify button works, sometimes it doesn't. There really doesn't seem to be any specific reason. I would think it should either work all of the time or not work all of the time. When I can't click it for him I can click it for other friends so any thoughts on that? It seems to be a problem on Apple's end. I wish they would get it together and fix it.

UPDATE: To recap - boyfriend and I are on iphone 4s, both are updated to iOS6, I was having problems on my phone with the Notify Me button not working (being greyed out) on his Find Friends screen. So we went into our account settings in Find Friends (Me>Account) and when we scrolled down there is something that says: Show Geofence Alerts From: Mine was on Only my Friends, his was on Everyone. I had NEVER changed this setting (I used to have no problem getting alerts for him) so I really didn't think this would work. I switched mine to Everyone, checked his screen, and the Notify Me button was available. To experiment I switched it BACK to Only My Friends and it stayed lit up. In conclusion - that really shouldn't have affected anything especially considering that it made no difference when I switched it back, but somehow it magically fixed it. So as long as everything else is correct (both phones updated to iOS6, etc.) then you might want to try this. Hope it helps.

Try changing the email you send your invites from in Account Settings..

I just did that after mine not working since getting my iPhone 5 and it all of a sudden started working.

Some reason it was sending invites from a email address not linked to my apple id that was preventing mine from working
