Sep 24, 2012 7:13 PM in response to tobifsby smartlane,I'm really at a loss for what's happening to my iPhone 5. I'm using wifi and the phone right now to post this. Websites load faster than anything I've used before on the exact same wireless connection I've been using on my other devices. But apps?! They just sit there. Doing nothing. I find this a bit confusing. How can my phone pick up wifi and load webpages with lightening speed, yet when I try to download an app nothing happens? If this was a hardware issue I would think wifi wouldn't work at all. Any thoughts on this?

Sep 24, 2012 7:14 PM in response to mattheningerby jabbspi,Do you have a black iphone or white?
Seems like most of wifi conection problems occur with the black 5.
I'm debating if I should change mine to a white one.

Sep 24, 2012 7:14 PM in response to tobifsby Amin7b5,Well, add me to the list as well. Slow wifi, anywhere from 1/10 to 1/2 of the speed it should be. Doesn't matter if WPA encryption is enabled or not.
At work, my ipad and coworkers iphone 4S consistently gets 10Mb down. My iphone 5... 1-3Mb.
I went to AT&T today since there is no apple store nearby. We connected my iphone 5, ipad, and an android device to the same wireless hotspot. The android and ipad consistently got 3Mb down. The iphone 5 was consistently 0.3Mb. The AT&T rep pulled out a brand new iphone 5, loaded speed test, and it too would only download at a paltry 0.3Mb.
We buy Apple products because "they just work". All I can say is that if this doesn't at least get an acknowledgement from Apple within my return period, I will be exchanging it for a galaxy s3.

Sep 24, 2012 7:29 PM in response to ricsteinbergerby smartlane,Any thoughts on being able to connect with no problems to wifi for web browsing, yet having painfully slow app downloads?

Sep 24, 2012 7:30 PM in response to tobifsby joehero,So smart lane hit the nail on the head. I got my phone replaced today and it is waaaaay better. Can connect, videos working now. Same speeds as wife's iPhone 3GS. But apps still are kinda slow. But things are muh better since the replacement.
Also, strange thing. The original phone had no hotspot switch in settings. This new one does. Strange difference.

Sep 24, 2012 7:32 PM in response to tobifsby andrewket,I have the WPA2 problem on a 16gb black and a 32gb white, both VZW phones. Plus these are replacements, so I've had the problem on 4 phones.

Sep 24, 2012 7:38 PM in response to Toysrme007by Amin7b5,I don't spend much time here, but does apple ever come on the forum and say, "Hey, we're aware of the problem and are working on it."? I spoke with apple senior support on the phone tonight, and he was really nice, but said this was the first time he's heard of the problem.

Sep 24, 2012 7:38 PM in response to joeheroby smartlane,So confused right now Joehero. Haha. Websites are fast, just watched a video on YouTube no problem, and all while connected to wifi, but garage band is still sitting there. Hoping it will be downloaded by tomorrow morning. This must be software. Also, I did a speed test and I'm at about 0.38mbps.

Sep 24, 2012 7:45 PM in response to smartlaneby catscanjim,I have been having apps lock up like that recently. If its not done in 2 minutes, delete it and start again. Always works
