Q: Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?

I'm currently waiting on Apple support to call me back about this issue, but I thought I would reach out here to see if anyone else is having similar issues.

I upgraded to IOS 6 yesterday afternoon, and immediately after I could no longer connect to the Wifi at my place of employment.  Everyone had this issue, no big deal.

Went home, Wifi worked fine.

Came into work this morning and I am still unable to connect. I have tried all of the various recommended fixes, and even gone so far as to do a complete restore.   I work at a university with multiple networks and access points and have tried connecting to several, both secure and unsecure, with no luck.

This is what happens:

Unsecure Networks: Attempt to connect, wheel spins, Error Message: "Unable to Connect"

Secure Network: Attempt to connect, prompted for password, enter password, Error Message: "Incorrect Password"  (Yes I entered the correct password, I tried multiple times, and the IT tech was able to connect to it with his iPad 2 running IOS 5)

I am also not the only one, everyone on campus who has upgraded their iPad 3 to IOS 6 is unable to connect. (All staff/factulty have iPads, most have upgraded)

I have spoken with the IT department and they are baffled, they have tried rebooting various routers and access points to no avail.

Obviously there is something different happening in IOS 6 that is causing these issues.  My question is has anyone else encoutered this issue, and if so what have you done to fix it?

I have seen people above who have upgraded firmware on their personal wireless routers with success, but for a university with literally hundress of access points and routers this is out of the question, at least in the short term.

I will give you an update on where mine is at.

A recap of my problems first

    • Using my wifi at home for my ipad and iphone, I cannot connect to anything which requires me to sign into the itunes store.  Can't get an app, a song, anything.  I get error message, "cannot connect to itunes store"
    • Cannot do anything which requires loading a picture.  Can't tweet a picture, can't email a picture, can't facebook a picture, can't look at my picture albums in facebook.  It all times out, cannot connect to server as server is busy.
    • I can also not connect to the webpage apple.com.au "request timed out"
    • All of the above can be done on 3G or the apple store wifi or in a telstra shops wifi etc.  The thing is, I have 100g of download on my home PC which I use the wifi off, I am NOT going to sit and use my prepaid 3G when I don't have to.. grrrrrrrr

So, I had a service call from Apple last night.  They inform me my router/modem needs it's firmware updated.  Meh, OK, so I will ring Telstra.  (I am in Melbourne Australia)

I ring telstra, explain to them I need the router firmware updated as per apple request, (expecting a "this is not our problem, go back to apple").  They didn't have a clue what I was talking about.  However, they said your modem is actually still under warranty.  We will send you a brand spankin, up to date new one.

Brilliant!!!  didn't expect that at all

I talk to my techo mate at work today, he is convinced once I get a new router it should all fix itself. (mind you, I had NFI what a router was, I said ummm I have a modem... yes you do he said but it's a router and modem in 1.. Ohhhh OK) lol.

Anyway, I am now waiting on telstra to send me the new, whatever it is.  Once I install it, if it doesn't fix it.. then I am going back onto apples case BAD!!!!

I've never had any dramas with my wifi connection at all until this iOS 6 update.

I will keep you all updated once I install and test the new modem.

    This works for me:

         1) install Google Chrome

         2) login with Chrome in the captive portal

         3) done! (now you can switch to Safari or continue with Chrome)

    Hi All,

Not sure if this will help anyone but thought I would describe the issues we had and how I fixed them.

Couple of corporate iPhones had been upgraded to iOS6 over the weekend and found they could not connect to our corporate WiFi. iPads which had upgraded to iOS6 seemed to have no problem connecting. We are using Netgear WAG102 access points running at B/G speeds on automatic channel selection.

    The following had no effect:

    1. Changed channels
    2. Changed the encryption method
    3. Temporarily removed any security
    4. On the iPhone, forgot the wireless network and refreshed

All the above had no effect ...

Updated the firmware on all the Access Points (up to 2.0.7). At this point, all the iPhones reconnected successfully.

I guess the theory goes, upgrade the firmware to the latest one first and see if this helps.

I updated my iPhone 4 a couple of hours ago and the wifi didnt recognize any networks. I tried the methods people were suggesting including unplugging and plugging my router but nothing worked so I just gave up trying to look for a solution. And now it works! I'm not sure what solution made it work though, probably the router one.

Was having connection issues with long periods to connect and timing out, changed 'Accept Cookies' from the default setting 'From visited' to 'Always' and that seemed to help my problem.

    That also worked for me.

Thank you for saving my time... after a reset suggested by the Apple support team yesterday, and a frustrated attempt this morning, my next step would be the visit to the Apple store... support suggested to replace my 3 weeks old iPad?!? Installing Google Chrome solved the problem and saved my trip to the store.

Hey, all. I finally got my new iPad 3 2012 working. I have a D-Link DIR-615 router. I went to the D-Link downloads page, downloaded the zip file of the firmware, and just reinstalled it. Seems to be working fine so far (since last night). So, try reinstalling your particular router's firmware, even if you're on the latest version.  Won't hurt anything if it doesn't work.

I have an iphone 4 and recently updated it to ios 6 (via wifi). Used 3G till today, I had internet access and everything worked just fine. Today I connected it to the home wifi and I find out that I can't access the internet (eventhough I have a strong signal). Tried most of the "solutions" like:

    1 Reset Network Settings

    2 Forget this network

3 Turn off WiFi and then on again

    4 Turn off iPhone

    5 Set proxy to auto

    6 Renew Lease

Nothing seems to work! So frustrated

    Someone please help!!!!

I had this issue since July and I have a 4S. I thought IOS 6 would fix this but it did not. Apple also gave me a new phone but I still would lose my WiFi settings. I read somewhere where you "forget network" and then manually enter your SSID and choose "WEP" (not enterprise) just "WEP" it would fix this issue. Sure enough I did this earlier this morning and have been connected to my WiFi for about 4 hours now.

Why is the world Apple support wouldnt tell me to try this is a mystery as I would have saved a ton of time and effort.

    Hope this helps.

I still can't connect my iPad to my home network ... connects other places & internet stability is much better since I changed the cookie setting. Will try downgrading the firmware on my Netgear router tonight. Frustrating .. but it's nice to know I'm not alone!

I updated my iPad last night. Big mistake.

I have reset the network four times, I've forgotten the network, I've toggled the wifi on and off, I've set it to Auto, I've cleared the Safari cache, I've done a hard reset at least six times, I've reconnected to iTunes. I've waved it three times in the general direction of the planet Mercury. Wifi will not connect.

    This is not acceptable.

I have the problem at work but not at home. So I have to wonder about the router fix.

My home network is quite out of date but works fine.  My work

System is the latest and greatest and useless for IOS 6. I'm quickly

    Running out of 3G data.

    Apple!  Fix this!
