On two 10.6.8 Macs licensed for Apple Remote Desktop Admin, after the 3.5.2 update, the admin tool now opens with no available window of managed computers and no means to view such a window - "dead in the water."  So far, the only option seems to be re-install 3.5 and update only to 3.5.1.

I've the same issue. The bug is coming from the fact that "Apple Remote Desktop Admin 3.5.2" doesn't accept anymore to have the "display 1" on the right side and "display 2" on the left side.

An alternative to revert back to "Apple Remote Desktop Admin 3.5.1" is to rearrange displays: "display 1" on the left side and "display 2" on the right side.

Personally, I went back to "Apple Remote Desktop Admin 3.5.1" under Lion and Snow Leopard, and I will wait for "Apple Remote Desktop Admin 3.5.3"...

    Tobit,

I am experience this bug with a 10.7.4/3.5.3 client and a 10.7.4/3.5.2 ard admin. If I turn Mirroring off, observing/controling the client behaves as expected. The screen shot shows what I'm seeing when mirroring is on. Could you tell me how to rearrange the displays as you mentioned or how to demote the ard admin to 3.5.1.

In the meantime I will be reporting this as a bug to Apple.

    Thanks!

    Hi Cheryl,

I'm not using "Mirror Displays" so I was not aware that a bug was also existing there [Apple really worked like pigs for this update of ARD admin]...

So with ARD admin 3.5.2 the "working" screen arrangement is the following:

    ok.png

(no "Mirror Displays" => dual screen)

Now to downgrade to ARD admin 3.5.1 they are two ways depending where you bought it:

    - AppleStore/Retail [my case]: download the DMG (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1424), trash the application "Remote Desktop" and try to install fresh from the DMG. If a problem occurs, you will need to remove completly ARD: do a Spotlight search for "This Mac" with "filename containing" "remotedesktop" with criteria "System files" "are included" and trash everything (that is consistent with ARD), try to install again from the DMG.

    - AppStore: no chance for you, only TimeMachine might help you, or if you manually backup every application after each update.

    Good luck.

Is there any update on this issue? Where do we report this bug to Apple?

Very Frustrating bug created by a stupid assumption on part of developers.

Just a quick update...the just released ARD Admin 3.5.3 did NOT fix the problem first reported on June 19th - back to 3.5.1 again!

I'll add to this thread that I've had horrible issues with ARD 3.5.2 and connecting to clients with multiple displays.  Screen goes out of whack and ARD crashes.  I've been experiencing this with 10.6.8

I've updated to 3.5.3 today, but have not yet had the chance to test it yet, but I'm nervous about it after reading about it here.

I updated my clients to version 3.6 and have kept the 3.5.1 admin. The issue with my mirrored displays has cleaned itself up and things are running pretty good. I haven't tried to install the 3.6.1 admin yet, as I want to start with a complete fresh install of the admin software on this particular computer.
