    Thank you newmatch,

    your hint finally helped me.

Thanks newmach, that worked for me, too. I have a 4S and a huge library (over 22,000 songs). After upgrading to IOS 6 and clicking the Music icon on my phone, the iCloud update bar never even started. After using iExplore to remove just those three files, turning off iTunes Match on iPhone, doing the cold reboot as indicated above, and re-enabling iTunes Match on the phone, the progress bar finally initiated and now I can access all my music (once I enabled Show All Music).

I hope Apple smooths this out. No one should be expected to mess around with db files on their phone just to get iTunes Match restarted!

Thank you newmach! Your solution just saved me a ton of time and got iTunes Match working again on my 4S after upgrading to iOS 6!

this works too ( quoting from others) and that helped me

    • I downloaded and installed iFunBoX (File Manage) http://i-funbox.com/ifunboxmac/
    • Connected my iPhone4S
    • Deleted following files in folder iPhone\Media\iTunes_Control:

    MediaLibrary.sqllitedbMediaLibrary.sqllitedb-shmMediaLibrary.sqllitedb-wal

    • After that I started the MUSIC app on my iPhone, the iCloud symbol appeared and after some time all my music was back and iTunes Match as it intended in iOS6.

Thanks, this worked perfectly for me.  Took all of 3 minutes to fix.

This helped my repair my iPhone4's locally corrupted iTunes library (which calls my iTunes Match account) for all my music and music-video collection!  It took all of 5 minutes to repair.

    1. Google/download/install iExplorer (free program)

    2. Plug in iPad first, then open iExplorer

    3. Delete the iPad\Media\iTunes_Control folder

    4. Turn on iCloud/match in my iPad's iOS settings, which replaced the iPads music library with iCloud

A big THANK YOU to Michael Allbritton for pointing my in the direction of this solution!

Finally a note to Apple:  you will have to incorporate a way for users to view and self-repair the inner workings of their appliances if you wish to compete in this market ...remember what happened to Nokia for not forseeing the touch screen display many years ago!  I could never expect my Mom or even my wife to download something like "iExplorer" and use it to delete 3 corrupted datbase files; therefore, dear Apple, please incorporate the self-diagnosis and repair functionality offered by an iPhone Explorer type system into your iTunes software ...or something like that!  Get with the program!

Thanks to all who contributed useful tips in this thread.

I've had a similar problem with an iPhone 3GS following iOS6 upgrade.

I used the ifunbox solution (www.i-funbox.com) as this is free and iExplorer isn't anymore.

The path for the required files is Raw File System/iTunes_Control/iTunes using this system.

I then deleted the three files:

    MediaLibrary.sqllitedb

    MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-shm

    MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-wal

    and rebooted the iphone.

    Worked a treat.

    Can I just clarify a point;

once you followed these steps did your previous selections for your individual device appear or did all music appear and then have to select what you wanted to download ?

If its the latter then its still a pain as you need to select and redownload to your device, which in my case was c5000 tracks to go back onto my iphone.

Ive just done it on my ipad and got all music to appear but I now need to go through all 9000 tracks that are in the cloud and select those for download !!

Has anyone managed to get only their previous selections to appear on their device ?

    Stormy2084,

A+++++ answer. That took care of the issue perfectly...I have about 1800 songs I rotate on my 'playlist' (out of 20,000 songs I own from my days working in radio), and I was a little concerned when ios 6 cleaned my music out...Your solution solved it. BRAVO

Did you have to download the songs you wanted from the cloud again or were your selections already there ?

I've managed to view all music but I then need to manually select the music I want to download !

I had everything backed up in iTunes so I resync'd and we were good...The cloud doesn't accept all of my music for whatever reason (probably from the days before iTunes), so a good backup is still paramount IMHO

Yes, thank you! This solved my problem, as well.

It's probably no coincidence that iTunes has been crashing on launch for me for months, even after a full restore. That stopped with the upgrade to iOS 6, but then iCloud would not work at all.

I think there needs to be some code in iTunes to detect database corruption and repair it.

Worked for me too, with a slight modification.

I followed the steps, and this time the progress bar was full, but still it was taking forever, waiting for Apple to deliver results ...

25 mins later, I realised my other laptop was still On, with iTunes running. I turned off iTunes match on the second laptop (it said "deleting genius database), and almost immediately the first iTunes started delivering the iTunes match results .. Not sure it was related, but could be worth a try.

Never used Genius, but this seems to have fixed iTunes Match.

    Thanks.

If anyone else is having trouble deleting the three library files using iexplorer, try ifunbox. I was able to delete the files with it. At first my music still did not show and I was seriously about to cry. Took one more look at this thread and realized I did not do the reboot (hold sleep and home button until ayou see apple logo) as advised by Argonaught. That did the trick! Thank you everyone (except Apple tech workers)!
