You don;t need to rub it in.
You need to get it down the little bitty space between the button and the iPad screen.

Sep 23, 2012 5:17 PM in response to sophiemayby ryleeannj,or you can put a little on a cottton swab (q tip) but not too much not dripping, just damp, and rub it on the home button then use compressed air and spray it onto the button (i guess under it sorta?) and that may fix it... ive read that before and to me it sounds a little safer than this but ummm yea so hope this helps! sorry if im wrong!:/

Sep 24, 2012 1:02 PM in response to tonybeyondoby Mat.-,THANK YOU!!!!
I've had this problem for AN YEAR! All I had to do was pour very very little alcohol on the home button and push it for pretty much 3 minutes a lot, after that the "click" came back, but very slowly, and then once again and boom! as good as new. Doesn't seem like a permanent solution though, it keeps becoming sticky again

Sep 25, 2012 7:32 PM in response to tonybeyondoby AjDeCamp,None of this work, it clicks, but it doesn't go to the home button, and i actually found another way also, you go and put it to charge and then you lock it and try and take a picture like when you hold the button and power and stuff and supposedly it works, thats what i did the first time it didn't work and it WORKED but not it doesn't, so now i'm alllll depressed!

Sep 25, 2012 8:59 PM in response to tonybeyondoby Keiichi_K,Hey non chemistry dudes. Use isopropyl 90% and you'll be fine. Military uses this to remove water instead of all the rice and dessicant crap. I soak my old mouses and small electronics in glasses of it for a few days then dry out and use them again. Just pull out batteries or use sparingly on home button. Waters affinity to alcohol is very high and together they have a much higher evaporation rate. They days and days faster than straight water.

Oct 15, 2012 9:19 PM in response to tonybeyondoby brilozada,THE ALCOHOL TRICK WORKED AMAZINGLY, I NO LONGER HAVE TO PUSH SO HARD ON MY HOME BUTTON. I RECOMMENT THIS TRICK TO EVERYONE. DIP A QTIP IN A LITTLE BIT OF ALCOHOL AND RUB IT AROUND THE HOME BUTTON AND KEEP PRESSING IT.

Nov 1, 2012 9:12 AM in response to tonybeyondoby Redster11,Could someone give clear steps on the blowing method? Is it basically just blowing in dock? And keep pressing home button? Because now when i press it once it goes to the end application menu which is annoying. Thanks guys.

Nov 18, 2012 6:17 PM in response to bzlaiby julioismyusername,It definetly worked! I blew on it with pressure (careful not to get any moistre in it) and it really did work. Like someone else said, I kept my ipod touch 4gen in my pocket a lot, and some lint must have found its way to the inside of the switch. Give it a try! it realy worked for me.

Dec 5, 2012 11:31 PM in response to tonybeyondoby RedGoblinz,Use 99% Isopropanol, I've done it plenty times and there has been no damage so far.
On a side note, does anyone know how I can make the home button easier to press? It has the new type of hardness to it.
