Yep i know that feeling! lol... i've never really experience this much drain where im watching it drop though... and i've had an iphone since the iphone 3g...

yeah i might have to try the restore option too. but like a lot of us its a dreaded task. i hope something does improve though... hate disabling features just because of bugs! but lets try and stay positive!! lol

will post up results if anything improves! goodluck to you sir. : )

i ran into an issue with my app store icon "disappearing" when I activated my new iphone 5 via iCloud in the apple store on the weekend. I was having horrible battery drain issues, particularly when using wi-fi at home. I ended up doing a wipe/restore via itunes to resolve my app store issue on sunday and my battery drain issue has been quite noticeably improved. it's not at the level of performance that my iphone 4s was (battery life) but it is nowhere near as bad as it was when I activated the phone.  I've also noticed that my LAN indicator on one of my routers is no longer constantly flashing with my ipad or iphone 5 like they were the first few days after upgrading to iOS6...i refuse to turn off basic functions on the phone simply to make it through the day on one charge, I have to believe that apple will have a software update shortly. That said, I've had my retina display macbook pro with the black screen of death cold boot issue, and we're still waiting for that fix a couple of months in....

    usage: 6 hours 53 minutes

    standby: 15 hours 28 minutes

    life: 12%

I have not used it for 6 hours today though, I don't know where it got that number.

Make sure you turn bluetooth off.  It drains 1% every minute.

It is off, and so is location. Whats the point of having all these features if they make your phone last a few hours?

Hey everyone, ''Battery life can be extended by running a Full cycle charge. This means a charge process that start when the battery is at a low power state like 20% and DEAD, and continues until fully charged 2 hours . This will HELP with your new battery life the more you charge it the longer time you will get! ''

I am glad to hear this is not just an isolated incident.  This is my first iPhone and hearing that the iPhones don't keep a battery life I was realistic but this is ridiculous. The first day I got the phone on a full charge I had to charge it twice that day.  As others have said on the thread discussion we shouldn't have to shut down all functionality of the phone to conserve battery life because what's the point of the phone then.  I feel like I have to always be conscious of what I left on or end up making sure I have chargers everywhere.

Don't laugh but my Blackberry Torch lasted all day with heavy use which included all email, Internet streaming music and GPS.

This needs to be fixed or at least acknowledge ASAP!

I totally agree with you. This is ridiculous to turn off features that makes an iPhone a iPhone... That really needs to be fixed real soon.

We have 2 iPhone 5s at home, one of them is fine, after 12hrs still has around 70% left, the other one, after 6hrs has drained a good 80% of batter life.

1st white iPhone 5 is fine, sync and restore from backup went flawlesly.

2nd black iPhone, right away showed battery drain, sync was messy, 1st time,  a lot of app icons were not displayed. Did find them via search but some apps will dissapeared when switching to another screen.

    1st restore

Fixed issue with icons almost, still HUGE drain but now I noticed an app called Prayana was installed yet there was an icon that would not go away of the same app showing not finished installing:

    Pryana.PNG

Deleted the app and installing icon would not go away:

    Prayana2.PNG

Could not even delete this process or kill it using the process kill method.

(Turn off phone by pressing the power button, from the blank screen, hold the power button until you get the slide to turn off displayed, hold the home button for 6 seconds until the slide to turn off goes away, that will kill any running process)

    2nd Restore...

Fixed the issue with the app not installing, but still pretty bad battery drain..  I was one  of the lucky ones to been able to download  the app Process Killer before Apple decided to completely vanish it from the apple store:  Process Killer shows a process that is running constantly and is in my opinion the cause of this battery drain:

    pkiller.PNG

Process webbookmarksd has been found to cause issues with battery drain looking at this post: there was only 1 webpage yesterday showing this error on iPhone 5s in google, today there are tons showing this error.

I have unix skills so I know about processes and when I tried to tell a rep about the process he stopped me saying he was not allowed to discuss process names, now I know why the pkiller app was removed from the app store (i am willing to share it... shhh    )

The webbookmarksd crashed is related supposedly to the safari bookmarks being backed up, I removed all of my safary bookmarks and my phone is almost done finishing my 3rd restore hoping that this will  take care of that issue. will keep you guys posted...

I am having the same problem guys. I love the iPhone a lot and I think it's an amazing device but unfortunately the iPhone 5 is not satisfying when it comes to the battery life. I got till October 18 to return it. I have had the iPhone 3,4,4s and now 5. I Think it's gonna be the time to return it this time because its not lasting a whole day and I don't use it anywhere close to how I used the previous ones. Very disappointing. Not only did I have to go through the hassle of setting it as a new phone, it's just not working well. It dies really quick. If an update doesn't come out before then, I might have to switch to the Samsung galaxy s3.. My dads galaxy is lasting way longer than this even though he uses GPS on regular basis. I hope a fix is on its way otherwise I am done with iPhones.

Ok I did two full cycle charge and things markedly improved. The battery no longer drains itself to death, for one!! I charged it to 100% last night and this morning when I woke up it stayed 100%. Today I played games, emailed, played music, used whatsapp, downloaded and updated apps and browsed a bit for a total of 3.5hrs (over 8hrs standby) and the battery is still going strong at 64%. Not exactly better than ip4 but way way way better than day 1. I also did reset all the settings as suggested by one of the kind user here. And I've swtiched on LTE and Siri all the way.

So is the iPhone 5 battery just bad hardware wise cus of the A6 processor or do you guys think its just an iOS bug?

Pretty sure its just an IOS bug... as its not just limited to the i5's. iPads, i4 &i4S are affected too. But i guess as with all updates theres always some ironing out to do... i'm sure there will be an update soon just gotta be patient... frustrating as it is though!
