I have 2 iPhone 5 phones, both are unable to keep the correct date and time for more than a day. They report the correct time for a while, then at some point during the day they change the time by hours, minutes and even years. If I power down the phone and restart it the correct date and time is displayed. I also discovered that if I turn on airplane mode, then turn off airplane mode, the correct date and time reappears.

I've turned off "Set Automatically" in the Date & Time settings screen, but the phones still loose the time. Has anyone else seen this problem? Any ideas on a fix?

I have had the same problem. I am on the Verizon network. I would be interested to find a fix. So far powering down does it. Just a bit annoying! It even messes up messages and marks them as received as the wrong date and time.

I just got back from the local Apple store at the Ala Moana mall in Honolulu. They said they have seen a handful of people come in with this issue... All of them Verizon subscribers... Nothing Apple can do helps and are convinced it is the network. They were good sports though and even though they told me this hasn't helped anyone in the past gave me 2 brand new phones, did a restore on the brand new phones and set them up from scratch (not using a back up) so I left feeling they did everything they possibly could. Less than two and a half hours after leaving the store one of the phones changed date/time again. I don't know why this problem is happening to some of us and not others but I am convinced after all this that the problem is with Verizon.

It happens whether it is or isn't connected to wi-fi. I checked the date/time on my router and its correct. The phones are new, the software is new... The only thing left is Verizon... What I haven't been able to figure out is why my wife's phone will change and mine will be fine or vice versa.

Same problem here, also on Verizon. Keeping accurate time & date is a basic funtionality flaw. Very frustrating that Apple & Verizon released a half baked OS...

Restarting the phone works temporarily but at best it's a ban aid soution.

Anyone know of a fix yet?

I have the exact same problem on Verizon iphone 5.  This is my second phone in 10 days the first one had screen response issues and apple store gave me a new one.  I don't think the old one had the time keeping problem though.  I haven't called Verizon because I feel it's a waste of time and holding for 20 minutes.

I have also been experiencing this problem. I have a Verizon iPhone5. A reboot seems to fix the problem temporarily but what a pain. I haven't found "the" thing that changes the date and the time. I've seen a variety of instances online. But my time was correct, set the phone down on the kitchen counter and came back - it was off. Got into the car and time was correct - drove across town and it was wrong. Reset it and it was correct - drove across town and it was wrong. In all cases, the reset worked.

Was not able to correct it by going to manual or by turning time zone support on/off. The only thing that fixed it was a complete power down, power up. And it fixed it every time. I've had the phone for 3 days.

There is a really quick fix. If you go into settings then date and time, you can change your clock to manual so it's not receiving it's date and time info from the cell site your getting coverage from. Verizon's LTE infrastructure has been plagued with issues from the get go. I have an iPhone 5 and have had the same issues with the time/date and have changed my settings to manual and haven't had an issue yet. Hope that can help some of you.

Unfortunately, turning off the automatic time settings doesn't fix the problem.  That was the first thing I did three weeks ago.  I'm using my third iphone 5.

I also tried this as soon as I started having problems. It did not help on either of my phones. I thought the problem had gone away because it has been about 2 weeks since I noticed the time problem, however, over the weekend one of my phones changed the date/time and moved it forward more than 72 hours. I put the phone in airplane mode, then took it out of airplane mode and the correct date/time was displayed. Since cycling through airplane mode works 100% of the time, it makes me think this is a Verizon problem. Then again, if the iPhone actually listened to the automatic settings, the time should not be affected by turning off the cellular modem, but it is.

Having the same issues as above.  Toggling airplane mode fixes it, just for a bit.  Every morning I wake up and the time is wrong.  Alarms do not go off because of it.  I don't use sleep-mode or anything.

I'm on Verizon, in SoCal area where I have LTE but it switches to 3G regularly.

Verizon seems to have fixed the problem in Central California.  I haven't had any issues in over a month.

Yep, happening to me on Sprint as well.  To make sure I get up in time for work I set a timer to go off around the 9am time I need to get up.

Bit ridiculous that we need to reset out phone several times a day. Doesn't matter if its a network (Verizon, sprint, AT&T, ect) or ifs its apple. Idc either way, so long as it is fixed ASAP. Since apple is the creator of the iPhone 5, and control the OS, u would think they would have the best results to fix this problem **wink wink**
