I installed Mountain Lion on my 2010 Macbook Pro without incident on launch day. I had to then go away for the rest of the week and weekend.

Yesturday and today, randomly everything seems to freeze, the video looks like it scrambles and I have to hard reset.

I have done an SMC reset, checked the HD which all come back as being okay.

Ideas

I did a fresh install of Mountion Lion, completely wiped out my drive so there was nothing left over from all of the previous upgrades. I thought everything was fine and then a few minutes ago, everything froze on video and I had to reboot.

This is getting to the point I can barely use my machine and I'm going to have to go back to Lion very, very soon if a solution cannot be found.

Since the format, there have only been 2 times when it locked up video wise. This time when trying to copy a link out of Safari it slightly scrambled and I had to restart.

Up to 5 crashes a day now for me with nothing in sight to be able to help the problem.

Is anyone else having this issue using a secondary monitor connected to their Macbook?

So i was in Genius Bar they said it is the Ram because i have not the original Ram so i bought the original Ram i will see if it works i´ll tell it to you.

While I hope this works out for you heunz2 I do not believe this is a ram problem. My macbook pro has 3rd party ram and yes, during their test it shows up as a warning. The people I talked to there said that's just fine.

This is a very similiar problem to what happened with these models in Lion after 10.7.2 and I think at this point the only thin we can do is wait until 10.8.1

Hey Canadianpj, it isn´t the RAM. Today i was gone back to Lion and there are no more Video Freeze, everything is right with my MAC. It´s not okay that Apple says i have to change the RAM, and the reason is only ML. You are right we only can wait until 10.8.1, i hope i can use ML in coming Version.

Just wanted to update this post.

With 10.8.2 so long as I do not use an external monitor, I have no more freezes. This is not ideal as I would prefer to have that extra space at work but if it means my machine is not crashing a few times a day then I guess I will take it.
