hey guys, i did what you posted regarding disable maps, siri, also i disable several location services and my battery goes well since i did it, at least i can use my phone for all day long.

Hope works for you in the mean time apple solve the issue.

Under Location Services, turning off the following has helped me:

    • Traffic
    • iAds
    • Genius for Apps

I also turned off Siri. I noticed a faster drain with Siri on than off.

This IS a problem with power consumption after installing IOS 6. I talked with Verizon and they are telling customers that they have a Master Trouble Ticket in with Apple to investigate the issue.

I'm putting money on the fact that something (maybe Maps) is still communicating over the air. The heat coming from the phone is a result of transmission power being ramped. When I turned off the services I indicated above, I saw a noticable improvement in performance for Mail, Safari, and other apps.

BTW, we just added a new iPhone 5 to our household and battery life is AMAZING. So, my educated guess is that there is a software glitch running on the iPhone 4/4S hardware that was missed.

I've already suggested what worked for me, as you can see in my post. I've been in technology for 38 years. I can hardly be accused of "sitting on my hands."

I appreciate that you are trying to be helpful. Try to remain civil as well.

That's great! I also just ran across this note about Safari iCloud sync problems. Could also be a factor. I've had many problems on my upgraded iPhone 4S and iPad 2 when trying to turn on/off services under iCloud. Sometimes it would just hang and I had to reboot the device. Trying again would work. There is no doubt in my mind that there are still bugs to be ironed out, which is why most people in my line of work don't upgrade to what we call "point oh" releases.

Anyway, this might be worth a try as well!

To be honest...I got fed up.

    So I restored my phone.

I don't know if they've tweeked the software since the intitial 24hr seeding of iOS 6, but things seem to have returned to normal without having to turn everything off.

    Back-up...and try restoring. It's worth the 30min.

Let us know how it goes, Jim. I've done that once already. I think I'll hold off and see how it works out for you.

My battery life is very good under 6.0. After 8 hours, I still had 97 %. Much better then before on 5.1

Actually, it can. That was my earlier point. There are different communications chipsets in each phone and they are managed by different program code. It could be a factor. Most of my friends who are on Sprint here in the USA with an iPhone 4S and iOS6 are having no troubles. The hardware is not the same everywhere.

First thing I noticed after updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 6, the battery life does not appear to last as long.

Well LOL i'm on sprint, and my battery life in standby isn't too horrible, but when downloading or sending texts or generally doing anything with my phone, it goes down FASTTTT! i'm talking 1% every few minutes (nearly 10% every 1/2 hour) Even after i restored the phone and set it up as new and got my pix and messages and such off my iCloud account, it's still horrible! My LG Optimus did better than this!

I'm not trying to downgrade it or anything, but Apple has had iOS 6 for how long testing it out?! and none of them had any issues that they are seeing out in the real world with well over 1/2 of the ppl having the SAME complaint!? I understand that they are working on it (i pray they are, i love my phone and would hate to go back to android to be able to buy extended batteries again)

I just can't fathom how something this massive could slip between their fingers!
