Ok, I finally found out the root of the problem or at least how to fix it manually the hard way (if you have jailbroken device, sorry:)).

Information on the accounts used to purchase each  application  is stored in file

    \private\var\mobile\Library\Caches\com.apple.mobile.installation.plist

For some unknown reason (Apple, please check you source code!) all applications on my iPad except the very last one I use to test whether installing already purchased application will fix the problem where stored with one single account ID in this file. I suspect that at some point all ID’s will be rewritten at once with another account ID and vice versa in such a way you will have all applications bought from single account. Account ID in this file is not your e-mail used as Apple ID, it is 9 digit integer number you can find in any iTunesMetadata.plist of corresponding application under DSPersonID

key, or in file \private\var\root\Library\Lockdown\data_ark.plist all account with person ID are listed as well, I think you will be able to find that information a lot of ways.

Unfortunately deleting file com.apple.mobile.installation.plist in Cache folder will not force regenerating it. In my case it lead to unbootable device until I restored file via i-FunBox. I used a copy of the file on PC and proper text editor to replace person id for selected applications I was sure belonging to wrong account. iFile with copy/paste may work as well but I didn’t test it . Very frustrating procedure taking in account I am pretty sure that information will be corrupted by apple very soon. Finally I managed to update my application though I had to reboot device after account change in AppStore (maybe ReSpring will work as well).

What is the full path of where you found those files?

    Thanks.

Hi there, don't know if this helps as I've not read every detail of every post in this thread but my iPhone kept asking for my password to an old account. I don't use my old email address anymore so updated my account to use my new email address. Ever since then It asks for the password to my old account!! It doesn't give you the chance to change the email address which is very frustrating.

Anyway I fixed it by going to settings then iCloud... At the bottom there is the option to delete account. Do that and save the data (contacts etc) to the phone. Now go back into iCloud an set up a new account with my correct email address and password. Ever since then I haven't had the 'enter password' box appear at all.

Don't think anyone else has suggested or tried this from what I've read... It seems everyone is trying to do it in the App Store when it's iCloud requesting the login?!

Hope this is of some help to you ;0)

That is path for device file system of course. You need to have jailbreak installed. With the knowledge what to search I found more detailed description of the fix at http://www.sinfuliphone.com/showpost.php?p=855939&postcount=48.

I tried to play with iCloud account with deleting it etc. No luck. Then I decided to dump file system and search in configuration files. That lead to hard way fix.

I even installed the package that was reported to break updates. It really did and I have a feeling that update  information is corrupted in the moment you install any application from another account not already used on this device. I may be wrong of course, but that may lead to some workaround when you start using device from scratch. Not install all applications from one account and then from another. Just install one insignificant application you will not bother to loose updates or even will decide to uninstall later from one account, then install apps from second account, then rest from the first one.

here is my issue i had my phone and wifes phone. i had an account she did not both were on one ID (a)

she decided she wanted to start buying music and apps.

i changed my email address and let her keep the original (a) since she bought some stuff.

i put my new id (b) on my phone and it was still asking for her ID (a) when updating apps so i would delete and then download at this point it would asking for my ID (b). Then she lost her phone (found it later) so i added my ID (b) to icloud in her phone so i can see both phones in the iphone finder. Now my contacts and apps are on her phone and every time i try to update my apps it asking for the email ID (a) thats on her phone.

Im sure i did not tell icloud to sync unless she went in there and turned it  ill check later on but on my phone all i have is book marks and find my phone turned on in icloud.

so im going to remove my ID (b) from her phone and rip and replace all the apps on my phone hopefully this fixes it. also my phone is jailbroken i have another email address i can add but im hoping this will fix it.

I changed my apple ID a couple of months ago bc I forgot my password. Since the new update the old ID constantly popped up. All I done was deleted that account (which I thought I'd already done) so I just made the changes and I'm very hopeful it'll stop it from popping up.

THANK YOU, Chris!  I was beating my head against the wall with this problem after we were forced to change apple ID to a full e mail address.  But it would not give me option to change it on my Iphone when I tried to enter my ID and password....your answer was simple, but I would never have thought of that!  I have now changed my Apple I D on my Iphone and apps are updating now!  Thanks

    SOLUTION

You need to reset both your ICloud Email account and Store Account.

    IPHONE

    ITunes Store

Goto Settings>Itunes & App Stores>Click your Itunes Login Name>Sign Out.

Sign in with new Apple ID.

    ICloud Exchange

    Goto Settings>ICloud>Delete Account.

Recreate the ICloud Account with your New ID.

I think the problem everyone assumes the login ID to get into the phone is the same as the Email login, and that is just not true.

When I changed the ICloud Exchange account, I was then prompted with my new Email Apple ID account.

    Hope this helps.
