I t can t get better. To you know that in Google at least 6000 people with partners works for that years, yes years. And now think on that they "shooted" allmost every street in planet. Now think again can this happend to Apple app, yes you right it can t, so you have now in to roads, with apple or with Android powered phone if you use lot of maps. That simple it is.

Agreed. Not user friendly at all, and takes longer to load.

I'm soooooooo disappointed that Google maps is gone on the new os!!!!

I've always been a huge Apple fan and I always consider choosing Apple products first because of my great experiences with Apple products but this has changed my mind!!

SADLY I'm going to look at a new Samsung

i am also really disappoined i am from barbados and the map app is working horribly, there are streets that arent there, and it makes no sense trying to zoom in to see things better...:( please fix this

It is so poor, the new "mapservice" even "works" with all the Apps I have..... In fact most of them are not usefull anymore! I have a hunting app for Germany which worked great with google before - now you only see pixels! Why does someone do this???? Unless you want to get rid of all your customers...

    No more I-Phone for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Now it's clear what changed since Steve Jobs died!!!!!! I feel ashame to have an i-phone now!

Congratulations to Samsung - isn't it nice to see your competition destroying themselves?

    Greetings from Germany

    @ doktor Pork

Cool - you can deliver a Pizza when I get lost in the forest with the new "maps". At least I don't have to starve!!!!!

"I'm just say'n". There are over 5 million new iPhone 5s out there now. For every 1 disappointed user, there are hundreds of thousands of satisfied users. Apple goes through this every time they release a new product.

I'd agree with you normally - but normally Apple does not effectively brick it's own devices.

Google and Samsung must be howling with laughter...

This time I think the issue is MUCH bigger...

You are right. This time it is much bigger because the functionality of the "crippled" app is deeply ingrained in the smartphone user community. This current gaff almost pushed me to cease being an Apple fan. Had it not worked for my delivery purposes, I would have returned it and continued using my iPhone 4 (with Goggle Maps) until the Samsung Note 2 became available in the US.

    But it did work.

For me, when Steve died, the spell was broken. I have no expectations of Apple now. If they make a product I like, I will buy it. If they don't, I will drop them like a piece of rotten fruit.

WRT those complaining about not being able to go back to iOS 5, you knew that before you upgraded. Sorry, but you should have thought this through BEFORE upgrading. It's called Risk Management.

I am truly pleased it did work for you.. I expect you are in the US somewhere or in/near a big city if not.

If you have a rural business in the UK  - which we have - we went from coverage of 100% of our customer addresses to under 40% overnight.

Regards, the upgrade - yes we had ourselves to blame - we pushed the button because we believed what we were told. All the previous times things weren't too bad and the benefits outweighed the issues..

    This time IS different.

It effectively renders useless locating anything from a calendar address (used for our delivery schedules) or a contact address - for ad hoc collections/deliveries.

None of the 3rd party apps are as integrated as the native Maps.

All we want is the ability to go back to where we were before the Mapocalypse.

I like the new Apple Maps.  It works a lot faster than Google and is much easier to read.  The road hazards markers are very helpful additions that Google doesn't have.  I just took a long driving trip and had no issues with inaccurate data.  I have had accuracy issues with Google Maps.  I have not seen any of the issues claimed here, such as linking addressed from contacts and in emails.  I like it much better and am confident it will continue to get even better over time.  There are many map options on the iPhone, so those with empty threats about Samsung have a simple solution:  Works the same as the old google maps, and provides another option for those of us who did not like the slow slow slow Google Maps.  For those who are that concerned, write to Google and ask them to put their maps app up on the app store.  Other map applications are there.  You might even like one of those, such as MapQuest.

    Glad it works for you.

The new Apple Map app does link to the Cal and Contacts - but regrettably Maps can't find the places or the route is way off, or it thinks it's found the places, but when you get there the business moved 3 years ago... does not integrate with the Cal and Contacts - it pushes you into the Apple Map each time.

The same is true of any 3rd party Map App.

I suggest you try it yourself - then you'll see what I mean..

The reason the Apple map app is so fast is I would suggest (slightly tongue in cheek) that it has so little data to display!

We've been successfully running a business using the native Google map - without any real accuracy issues.

Occasionally we might be 20metres out but very rarely more than that.

We certainly didn't lose 60% of our entire customer base as we have in Apple Maps...
