Why don't you click the "Stop email notifications"link instead.

How else are you meant to report a bug to Apple, it's not like they make it obvious if there's a better way.

Hi GuGascoigne, welcome to Apple discussions.

I don't want to stop the email notifications because I too want to stay informed and I am hoping that someone has a solution.

So you are aware, these discussion forums are not for reporting things to Apple. They do not read them. This is a user contributed site to share knowledge. If you wish to give Apple feedback you can do so here.

    Ah, thanks for the link.

I am experiencing the same thing on the iPhone 5 with iOS 6. After hanging up from a call or listening to voice mail the last podcast I was listening to in the Podcast app will play over the speakers.

Apple please push out a fix!

Having this issue too. Getting very annoying when all of a sudden my phone starts blasting music at me with the iPhone 5's very powerful internal speaker at very inappropriate situations.

@DLR - Thanks for your input but these forums are here for a reason. The more people voice their opinion about this issue, the more exposure it gets and the more likely it will be fixed sooner rather than later.

If everyone kept quiet about it then the issue would look a lot less widespread than it already is.

I have no idea why you are even posting in this thread. You obviously don't have the problem and obviously don't have a solution.

You can't play podcasts with the music app in ios 6

I have the same issue too, it's most annoying when it starts up after a missed call as well. I constantly get into my car with a podcast that has been presumably been playing (no phones where I work). Drains the life out of my battery.

    Hi HapaKolea,

Welcome to the Apple discussion boards. A little word of advice. You will recieve much more help in here if you are nice.

I do have the same problem, and I do not have a solution but I do have an alternative as I mentioned before. Use the music app instead. And yes, you can still use the Music app to play podcasts.

The first time you use the Podcast app it migrates your podcasts into it. To go back all you have to do is the following:

    1. Delete the Podcast app.
    2. In iTunes select your phone and make sure that the podcasts are checked to sync.
    3. Sync your phone.
    4. On your phone double tab the home button to reveal the apps still running in the background.
    5. Hold down your finger on one of the apps until the shake and show little minus signs in the top right corner.
    6. Quit the Music app if it is running, by touching the minus sign.
    7. Touch the home button once.
    8. Reopen the Music app and you will now see your podcasts.

@Ramzy, I hear what you are saying. You are right in a sense. It does bump the issue, but not in an effective way, in my opinion. Regardless, my earlier point to the poster was that it is not the place to plead for Apple to fix it. There are other channels for that.

I apologize if that came off wrong but I didn't think you had much to say but telling people to not post? Thanks and I'll give that a shot and see if that resolves the issues.

No worries, I reread my comments and they too may have come off in the wrong tone. I swear one needs to say things in such a neutral tone in order not to be misinterpetted in emails and discussion boards.

I honestly was just trying to be helpful.

Let me know if you have any questions regarding the above procedure. I just did it again myself and it worked fine.

I just realized that would be a solution if I want to sync to my computer all the time? Is there a way to download from iTunes and play with the music app all from my phone or iPad the way it used to be? It says that the podcast app is required to download a podcast.

I'm trying to find a way to just avoid using a computer as well as the podcast app. Does anyone know how some of the paid podcast apps work and if that is a solution?

When you say "It says that the podcast app is required to download a podcast," where are you reading this?

    1. On your phone, open the music app.
    2. Tap the "More" tab at the bottom.
    3. Click Podcasts
    4. Select a podcast
    5. At the bottom of the list of podcasts, you will see "Get More Episodes..."

That is one way of downloading them directly to your phone. This only works from the Music app after you follow my steps in the earlier post and if you have at least one podcast (of the desired podcaster) on your phone. If you do not have any podcasts by that podcaster, they will not be listed in step #4 - It only lists podcasts you have on the device.

As for avoiding the need for a computer all together, that is the benefit of using the Podcast app.

Yeah. They don't have that anymore in the music app. My iphone 4 running ios 5 had no problems with doing that but now that I have the 5 with ios 6 I can't get any of those options to work. It's like apple is forcing me to use their podcast app.
