I can't seem to connect to my wifi.

Ok so I just updated to iOS6 on my iPhone about ten minutes ago. Now I can't connect to wifi. I have to use my college's wifi so there is both a username and password but this was never a problem before. HELP!

    i have posted on the IPAD forum and now i'll post it here on the Iphone 4s with IOS6 upgrade

     

    Go to Settings, General, About

    Scroll down till you see Modem Firmware

    Reply Back with your Modem Firmware

    Modem Firmware: 04.12.02

     

    If your Modem Firmware is LESS than the above, then you have the same problem as myself and many others with Wireless Connectivity issues to WAP's

     

    It is my understanding, unless im proven wrong by anyone with my above findings, this can only be fixed by APPLE. I have reported this as a BUG

    Go to settings- general-reset-reset network settings, that may help.

    Yes, I have a 4S with a lower number on its modem firmware, and the wireless is grayed out.  Was thinking of going to Genius Bar, but will try to hold out until Apple fixes the problem.

    I have spoken APPLE and have discovered in the above options the VERSION BUILD in ( ) can be different. The APPLE rep said she has seen 10A405.

     

    Can we get everyone to check these findings IF there are various BUILD versions and if so, what they are AND Modem Firmware

     

    I have Version 6.0 (10A403)

    Modem Firmware : 3.0.04

    I have 3GS Version 6.0 (10A403) modem firmware 05.16.07 and have no problems with wifi

    I have modem firmware 3.0.04 on my 4S and same build (10A403).  Can Genius Bar upgrade the modem firmware, or do I need to wait and go without wireless on the phone until Apple fixes the problem?

    Same issue here, with the lower number. I am so annoyed...haven't called Apple yet but from what I'm reading they can't help anyway?!?! Argh. Hope they fix this soon, hate to think how much my data usage is going to increase.

    After speaking with APPLE and logging a BUG, supposidly not aware of the issue. It continues to amaze me how they dont as inititual symptoms happend a week or two ago, but ive managed to potentially discover what the problem is. Apple are "looking" in to the BUG, no release patch/fix at the moment

     

    I also found some humour when i spoke with a supposid apple tech and asked "Do you ever read your own forums", the reply i got was "not much". I guess it shows working for Apple not all of them are SME's Subject Matter Experts when they should be since they are only supporting on product.

     

    Try doing IT Support when you're suppose to be a Jack of All Trades know it all and master of none ! .

     

    Anyways... If  you're after a desperate FIX, here are some solutions.

    1) Swap Iphone 4s with someone else that has a high Modem Firmware Version

    2) Replace your WAP / Wireless Router at home or work to an alternative modem and modern brand if you can accord it, try explaining that to your MD or IT people in your company

    3) I dont encourage this one, but if your Iphone 4s is under warranty, make a claim on it, how you do that is up to you

    4) If your Iphone 4s is under warranty, send it away for repairs, what ever problem your phone is demonstrating hope they buy in to it and they send you a refurbished unit, hopefully with a newer Modem Firmware

     

    At this point in time, no Date of fixing this issue.

     

    I did see a POST on the IPAD section or someone apparently going to an Apple Store, who knows where and the lady wrote down a hardware fault to phone and the person got a replacement !. WHOEVER you are, please SHARE the details for this

    I'm going to book an appointment at one of the local Apple stores' Genius Bars for this weekend. From what I have read here and at other sites, the only real fix right now is to get the phone replaced.

    Hi Calico,

     

    If you get lucky for a replacement phone, let us know "WHERE as in locality" this happened and perhaps a reference number for anyone to use as an example.

     

    I tried Apple Store, Australia , Sydney, CBD George St and now luck. It was funny to hear them say they werent aware of any IOS6 Wireless connectivity issues. Far as they were concerned, long as it worked in Apple Store, there is no problem.

    We're all in the same boat.  My 4s is version 6.0(10A403) 3.0.04. I've called apple and drove an hour to the store with nothing resolved. They keep telling me its my router. My iPad and laptop are working fine and I updated my iPad to ios6 with no issues. I hope they release something soon. And I have tried everything to get my phone back on wifi.

    Both my iPhone4S & new iPad are having the same issue, PLUS malfunctioning Personal Hotspot!!!

         Looks like my problem is resolved. Thursday night, I placed another call to Apple support, and the tech quickly transferred my call to another (apparently a senior or higher-level) tech.  After discussing my problem, he agreed that the phone probably had to be replaced, and booked an appointment at the Genius Bar for one of the nearby Apple stores for this afternoon.

            At the store, the Genius first wiped my phone, then tried to restore to factory settings.  When that did not work, he had the phone replaced.  There was already a label for a box with my name on it; guess it was to set aside the proper model for my replacement phone and to ship my problem phone out (not sure if it gets recycled directly, or is disassembled to find out what was wrong with it).  The Genius then started updating it to 6.0 (it was originally running 5.1).  I hung out at the store for awhile (and took in an iCloud workshop in the meantime) so I would be able to make sure that the wireless worked properly after updating. It did.  I have the same build of 6.0 as before, and the modem firmware is the same.  I did notice that the modem firmware number was even lower (2-something) before the upgrade to 6.0.
