Same problem! About and hour ago I was texting on my iPhone and then the conversation with the person I was texting disappeared. Then I was scrolling down to find it, and I clicked another conversation to find that it was clear as well. Then I closed the application and reopened it to find that ALL of my conversations were gone!! I tried a hard reboot as well as a soft reboot, but it didn't work. I even tried to backup my iPhone and then restore it from backup, but they're still gone (I hope this didn't make them disappear for good?) I have an iPhone 4 and I'm running iOS 6.0. If it helps to know, I did my last software update on air.

I'm trying to help a friend with an iPhone 4 who upgraded to iOS 6 and now can't see his old text messages. If he uses the 'Search iPhone' box then he can locate the old text messages, but when he tries to open them they disapear. Appears the data is intact but Apple have introduced a lovely bug.

If pressed then he can do a restore from a backup made just before the upgrade, but as it was a few weeks back that would mean losing two weeks worth of text messages. Rather defeats the purpose when this really is something that Apple should/could fix.

So, hoping someone at Apple is on the case and going to fix this bug in the next iOS update. Just thankful that the Mapocolypse caused me to wait upgrading my phone. Happy living in iOS 5.

Just to add my voice, I'm having the same problem since upgrading to iOS6. This needs an Apple update and fast. I'm concerned I have lost messages from companies, should I just hold on until and update arrives hoping they come back or has that content already been deleted?

Praying that apple will listen and sort it out, as far as your data goes it is all on there still it's just the software cannot handle it properly. You can view it via an iPhone explorer app on your mac but I don't think that is an acceptable way of viewing your texts lol

    Hi runaholic

What steps did you need to take to recover your text messages with the iOS 6.1 upgrade?

Did they not transfer over after the iOS6 upgrade like me but remained in your backup?

Any help would be much appreciated

Glad you have yours back. Mine however remain in limbo. Show up in search function of the phone still. Just not accessible.

    Hey,

Mine seem (I've not thoroughly searched) seems to just be there, where they were hiding, after selecting the conversation previously, they are showing in full.

After all this time I though apple had decided we were not worthy of viewing our own messages.

    Adam
