You can check you cellular usage from general, usage, cellular usage. I could see this bug costing a lot of customers additional cell phone bills....glad I have unlimited :)
Used 780 Megs in a week.

I agree with Al2012.
I have poor reception in my apartament. The coverage outside the building is 4 bars on both LTE and 4G (on average). Inside the apartament, there is no LTE and about 1-2 bars for 4G.
Poor reception means radio is working extra hard to seek and/or maintain connection. I tunred off "cellular data," kept WiFi on. I was still able to make/receive phonecalls, regular text messages, and iMessages (through WiFi).
***don't forget that my regular 4G still struggled at 1-2 bars, but I still need it to function as a phone ***
On my first trial I got 9 hours of usage and 21 hours of standby (I'm pretty sure that "standby" is always elapsing even when the phone is used, so it is not 30 hours). The usage part was all-encompassing: games, video, phone, texting, browsing, downloading, music streaming, music playback, and anything else i'm forgetting.
Other important info:
Brightness is set bellow the letters T&N (looks like about 40-45%) and on 'auto'.
I do not use nor have any desire to use: iCloud, Bluetooth, Siri, Miscelleneous location services (other than "cell tower search"), Automatic Time Zone setting.
I have 4 email clients--2 of them push emails, 2 fetch only when I open the mail client.
I did NOT go "terminator" on Push notifications--refuse to give up functionality--BUT I do pick wisely which apps TRULY NEED to be pushed to notify me.
At the end of this test, I let the phone die (as per Apple Website). It took 1hr 55min to fully charge (from the wall)--this is very welcome news!
It is POINTLESS for me to keep "cellular data" on at home since my phone doesn't even load google.com without wifi--THANKS AT&T!!! But I do wonder how long it will last outside.
Please share your experiences. It will be really helpful!

Wow, I must be one of the lucky ones. My new iphone5 just seems to be taking small sips of the battery. I charged it for the first time on Thursday evening, and haven't charged it again until 5pm today Saturday afternoon, letting it get down to 1% mind you. When I have it in sleep mode overnight for 8-10 hours I lose roughly 5% of the battery capacity. Hard to say what the overall difference is between my very good battery life experience and some your terrible experiences. Best wishes to you to find a fix.

Wow that's a lot of data for a week. I might have to look into an unlimited plan myself. I have to say though I am thrilled about the blazing fast LTE speed! It really is faster than my wifi.

With my Test 1 as per page 16 on this forum..and a few apps notification (Pulse News, Whatsapp,
IM+, ituneU, Facebook, ChatON etc) i.e. total 10 notifications ON. I manage to achieve
the result below (with a single full charge cycle):
Looking at the usage 5hrs and 1 minute..and remaining 52%...I can only assume the other half will last another 5hrs. Standby time is pretty good.
Usage Behaviour for the test: Listening to music and browsing internet, checking email and whatsapp as well facebook. Browsing Appstore.
**Cellular Data: ON, Diagnostic: OFF, Bluetooth: OFF)

I did another DFU this morning - not with any great hopes - I am on my third phone - saw something about bookmarks in an earlier post so I did not re-install two safari bookmarks - only brought in half of my apps (ones I use) - about 30 of them - restored as new - crossing my fingers - restore was done at 10AM it is 10 PM and I still have 52% with 3 hrs 51 min of usage - the past week the best I got was 5 hrs and 14 min - at this rate I should get close to 8 hrs - I can live with that - I have 8 apps with location services on - bluetooth off - LTE on - iCloud on - did run my battery down to o the last two days - maybe this worked - not sure what made the difference - the 2nd DFU, the battery run downs, or some app that I did not reinstall or the book marks I did not reinstall. Tempted to try adding bookmarks and seeing if that was the issue but am scared to screw with my phone now that it looks like it is working. One promising thing is this kinda points to a software issue and if it is with 5 million iPhone 5 out there I think Apple will be forced to fix it. I was at the point of taking it back for a refund but this gives me hope. Amazing how much this has affected my mood - we are all way too dependant on these devices. I will keep updating this post - this post has helped me to see I am not alone in this assue and frustrations - but I need to see this kind of performance several days in a row

I guess with LTE network, 8 hrs USAGE with notifications, location and SIRI on are considered to be reasonable. Somehow the combination of full cycle charging, restoring and resetting the phone (in that specific order) improve the battery management in preserving power against the resources installed on the phone.

I bought my iPhone 5 on launch day and noticed all week that the battery performance was horrible. My phone would be 100% charged when I go to sleep and when I wake up in the morning it'd be down to 90%. This is with Wifi, Bluetooth, 3G/4G, Push Email all turned off and no running apps in the background.
Took it to the Apple store, they ran a diagnostic and found no fault. They advised to restore the device and set it up as a "brand new phone" and not restore from a backup of my old iPhone 4.
