So if chipmunk.nl is the right site, noone has a week 40 device?

Technically no but people already have the chipmunk week #39 but referred to them as week #40 because they used appleserialnumberinfo.  I believe there were at least 2 people who reported receiving chipmunk week #39 late last week and both were samsung.   I assume they got them so soon because they did not use the free standard shipping or are closer to China.

If you enter your retina MacBook Pro serial number at the website www.chipmunk.nl/cgi-fast/applemodel.cgi you will get the correct production week (i.e. 39).  If you enter your serial number at www.appleserialnumberinfo.com it will give you a production week 1 week into the future (i.e. 40) which is incorrect.

Since people are not making a distinction which site they are using it becomes confusing.  Most however have been using appleserialnumberinfo.com since it is in english.

Correct.  And we know that week #39 is technically correct because according to the gregorian calendar system week #40 of this year is just starting this week so it would have been a little hard for people to have gotten #40's already.

Ok Tomorrow I have to ring Apple to send my 3rd replacement back for dead pixels, mura, stuck pixels and slight IR.

What you guys advice me? Ask for a 4th replacement or ask a refund (in form of a giftcard) and wait a while?

If you can, I'd suggest you wait a while. Let's see what screens the new BTO rMBPs and repairs get over the next week or so.

    Oh Canuck!!

Well, I gave the ER a proposition:

    1. Give me a replacment rMBP (Which I right now have, again ridden with IR)

    2. Give me a classic MBP with the same price (8G RAM, 2.6GHz, 750HD)

    He agreed to both

What I didn't ask for was the same specs ( 256 SSD)

Do you think it would be wise to consider this option (2) with a SSD taking into consideration the fact that I won't be paying for either!!! So it would be complimentary (If he agrees for the SSD) !!!

Things I might miss : RETINA, Slim Profile (Am Crazy abt), New Fan, ventilation system, Redesigned Speakers.

BTW I'm from INDIA, We don't have an APPLE store over  here. RESELLERS are the only choice.

Another question I keep ponderin on is:

Would the REPLACMENT (NEW) LAPTOP (I now OWN with IR) which was shipped from SINGAPORE come with a 14 day tag?

When you get the new one your 14-days start over.

You are really lucky with the current policy in Apple Stores and the 14days NQA returning your Macbooks!

I am waiting nearly 3 months now for the issue to be solved but i cant see any light in the tunnel!

The thing is that i will be buying my rMBP online from UK and a friend will bring it back to me in Greece, so if there is such a case that i open the Macbook and see that it has an LG panel it will be a long and frustrating journey to have this resolved!

Its like a dead end, so many times i thought of just getting a normal MBP but still waiting

(Spending nearly 3100 Euro (Yeap 4000 USD) on a product and getting in trouble is pure masochism)

They actually deleted two pages (it was >4,000 posts before this). Nice try, Apple.

due all respect, but it is not okay and not professional, neither ethical to threath. Please can we keep it more polite. At the end any threat is senseless anyway. Apple is the big company here and will always win. Better try to work it out with them in a decent and respectful manner. I still believe at the end Apple wants us to be happy customers. Right now there are some "procedures" that they have to follow, but I am sure there will be an solution at the end

Secondly, Apple does have the right to remove whatever they want from their forum. It is their website and we are guests here. They can make any rules they want and if we don't like it, there are plenty of other forums we can discuss this matter.

I think they removed all of a certain user's posts.

FYI, First Amendment to the United States Constitution says this:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It applies to government, it does not apply to corporations or people.

You can say whatever you want (within certain restrictions) on your own site, or on the street corner, you just might not be able to say them on someone else's (e.g. Apple's) site. On someone else's site they have to right to remove speech they do not like.

My personal view: Apple should be making a public statement about the IR problems on the Retina MacBook Pro - just like they decided to make an announcement about the problems with Maps on iOS 6. Time will tell.

I think so too. But Apple is making a statement every time they edit this forum. They also attached the knowledge base article about IR. This is not a letter or written statement of any kind, but it sends a message. And I'm not liking it. I just don't get it: If they had recalled all defective units some months ago, they could have saved themselves a lot of 14-day NQA returns.
