    Hi northeaster,

Would you mind sharing with us the outcome of your call to the apple care team? I am now concern that my problem might continue with the new replacement that is on its way.

I wonder if by now AppleCare knows if this is a software or a hardware issue.

    Thanks!

Got my new Iphone 5 today and it won't stay connected to my Wifi Linksys. Call Apple this evening and they had me reset phone. Well It didn't work.  I hope they can find out and fix this problem.

Those who have this problem, look at the build number for iOS 6 in Settings -> General -> About -> Version.

If the build is 10A403, then there is a newer build out (10A405). To get the new build, connect to iTunes and click Restore. Please post your results here.

For those of you who got a replacement phone and confirmed that this new replacement has no WifI issues with WPA2 encrypted network. Could you please let me know the production week of your new phone?

My current phone (which connects to WPA2 networks but there is no traffic activity) was manufactured on Week 37-2012 in

Factory: F1 (China, Zhengzhou - Foxconn)  according to this website: http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

Thanks in advance for helping us out!

P.S: When using the website above, you need to enter your phone Serial Number (Settings->General->About)

switched from original droid 1 (3-5 years old) and iphone5 (black/16gb) doesn't pick up as strong as a signal in my office and very, very spotty wifi in my house at ranges where the orginal droid did.  Just used your site to look up info, its a week 37, C3 factory.  Thinking of getting a replacement before I use all my data

    Hi there,

I picked up my new iPhone 5 (white, 16gb) in Oslo, Norway today, and have the exact problem that you are having.

Connected it to my new ASUS RT-AC66U router with standard settings, which is WPA2/AES.

All my other wireless devices worked like a charm, but the iPhone 5 lost connection after a couple of seconds.

    What to do...

I tried the trick with setting a static ip-adress for the iPhone, but it didn't make any difference.

Worked for max a half of a minute, then the network connection fails.

    Way to go Apple...

I was having the same problem as you on my iPhone 5.  Id be able to connect to my wireless network (wifi n) with a WPA2 AES security setup and internet would work for 5 seconds or so.  After that I couldnt load any web pages but the wifi would stay connected.  I went to the apple store and they reinstalled the firmware.  I went home and it still didnt work.  I went to general/reset/reset network settings.  Still didnt work.  Tried taking off WPA2 (then reset network settings) and internet WORKED!  It apparent was having trouble with the WPA2 security.  I went to the apple store again and was given a new iPhone 5.  Went home, worked no problem.

Bottom line:  Get a new iphone 5.  If you have the same symptoms as me, you have a hardware issue and you need a replacement phone.

    Good luck fellas.

I brought my new iphone 5 home yesterday and set it up with my Linksys router.  The phone will not stay connected and asks for my password each time when I reconnect.

I got my replacement iPhone5 in the middle of this past week.  Same specs: 64gb and black.  The Genius Bar guy put my old SIM into the new phone, so I have the same phone #.

I actually tested the replacement in the store, and it (as was the case with the previous phone) worked over the store's wi-fi hotspots.  (In fact, I d/led s/w from iCloud at fast speeds!)

I then went to a nearby Barnes and Noble to shop for magazines, etc.  I turned on the new phone, and it immediately picked up and connected to the store's AT&T hotspot.  I even sent a Panorama photo via Twitter from inside the B&N using that hotspot.

I brought the phone home, annnddddd I still have the same exact problem.  The wireless security key doesn't log me into my home network. (shrugs)

I actually tried to return my phone earlier at the store where I got my replacement but they couldn't take it back. Wasted more than an hour at the store. They told me to call applecare so I spoke to apple care. They didn't have anything to offer other than try to troubleshoot. I have already tried everything -I am a techie geek. Apple care mentioned I need to return it in a store. So I will return the phone tomorrow at another store. Didn't realize returning apple products was such a hassle.

This seems to be an incident with just some phones and being a few in millions apple is not so bothered about those customers. We have decided to return the phone and cancel.

Original   phone - Production week 38. Factory F2

Replaced phone - Production week 36. Factory DN

Droppping my rating from 4 stars to 3 stars and cannot recommend anybody to buy the iphone 5 yet.

    Cheers
