I tried everything in this thread. Nothing works. I have a 2008 Audi S4 that has worked flawlessly with every Apple phone (as well as others) I have ever owned.

I also tried connecting the iphone to my Macbook Air, to keyboards, everything I own.

    Nothing works.

There is some BT stack issue here.

Boy, the Maps app and now this. Is Apple becoming Microsoft?

I easily synched my wife's new iPhone 5 to her 2011 Elantra Limited.

First, I deleted her old phone from the nav system's memory including all the contact information associated with that phone (not sure I had to do that but I did since we "retired" her old cell phone).

Second, make sure the car is in park as it won't synch when in drive.

Third, press the pairing command, enter the passkey once your iPhone is discovered, wait approx. 3 seconds, and viola - connected!

Now everytime she gets into the car, her nav system immediately recognizes her iPhone and she's ready to roll. I also synched my iPhone to her nav system as well, but her nav system will only allow one iPhone to be active at a time.

If it's a hardware problem, why do I have the same issue with my 4 phone running iOS 6?

Similar issue: iPhone 5 and iPad new. Was able to pair iPad yesterday. Then forgot the iPad to pair a headset. Paired headset after a number of tries and rebooting iphone. Then forgot headset and rebooted iPhone. Can briefly see iPad but it won't pair.  Definitely bluetooth is flaky.

just resolved, if nothing else temporarily, a similar issue.

original symptoms: would not pair to built in bluetooth in car, loss of WPA2 personal wifi, unable to perform backups in iTunes.

I thought I remembered hearing that the bluetooth and wifi chip were one in the same, and tried to reset all network settings. When this completed, I was unable to connect to my home wifi network, as I would get a bounce back message of, "incorrect password". I called AppleCare to seek advise, and had initially recommended that I restore my iPhone 5. I wasn't sure when I had backed up last, so I said I wanted to do that first. iTunes said it couldn't back up my device; no error number or anything, just an I can't do it. AppleCare sought out an Apple Store and made an appointement for a replacement phone.

In the mean time, I found alternate ways of backing up my phone (mostly just pictures through dropbox camera uploader) and was able to do a restore, and restore from iCloud.  I now have bluetooth connectivity, wpa2 personal wifi, and my starbucks app is working.

Bluetooth is definitely faulty. I have tried EVERYTHING to pair my iPhone 5 to all of my bluetooth devices (headphones, pioneer system, etc.) and there is no luck. I was able to get my car to play songs but none of the functional commands work so I cannot change the song or view titles from my car stereo screen. I called apple support and they told me they had not been seeming to have any complaints of Bluetooth issues.....right. Anyways, call apple and tell them to fix it! If they get enough calls they are mandated to do something about it.

Go here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and give them ALL possible detail that you can.

And I'm not having BT issues with my new iPad or iPhone 5.

I was able to get the Bluetooth connection to work when I turned on Personal hotspot but it did not hold the connection for long. I was driving in a car when running the test and could see an Audi listed in available devices. That Audi was probably 30 feet away.

I too had trouble linking to my Panasonic phone usinf the link to cell feature.  However I didn't chasnge hardware at all.  I have an iPhone4 and after upgrading to IOS 6, it wouldn't make bluetooth linked phone calls through the panasonic handset.  I looked at the blutooth settings and it was on and even said it was connected but nothing happened when I tried to use it.  I told it to disconnetct the panasonic and reconnect, when I did that the iPhone said that the Panasonic was incompatible!  I then rebooted the Panasionic base and the iPhone the n I went through the registering process (not connect it was the same phone but it was not recognized as such). Then when it showed up on the iPhone as registered I told it to connect, gave it the PIN, and it was back.

I hope this helps and maybe points out to others with trouble that it needs to have the old settings blown away even if it is the same iPhone with an IOS update (presumably because there are new drivers for Bluetooth 6).

Holding down the call button and then pairing with the iphone worked for me. I have a jawbone icon.

Saved me time from going to the apple store.

I'm Having a Bluetooth problem also with my 2012 GMC Terrain with Intellilink system. The truck pairs fine with the Iphone5 but randomly drops and than restores the bluetooth connection.

Not sure if this helps, but I couldn't get the iphone 5 to recognize the device (bluetooth in my car); but I read an earlier post that suggested going into the car's system and deleting the old iphone first.  After I did this, the iphone 5 was able to recognize the car and vice versa--paired no problem and everything else seems to be working fine. Maybe worth a shot for the car?  Not sure what to do with the other items you mentioned though.  GL

My car bluetooth and my wife's plantronics bluetooth will not re-pair with the devices.  They will pair O.K., but they will not re-pair after being turned off!

I do have a samsung that works fine though.  Sounds like some incompatible devices......
