I bought 14 iphone 5  but the battery of the the new iphone 5 does not last long at all. it drains so quick.

thats is not what apple claimed for it. I really dont expect that kind of quality from apple.

Apple forgot that when you charge such a big amount for a small phone its your duty as well to provide the respective quality.

My iphone 4S used to give me 2 days with out any problem but this one cant even give me half day and then I have to look for a charging station to charge it again.

Yeh the answer is turn everything off, reset everything, and of course don't use any data, not really an answer. If you have to go through and change all the obscure settings to get more that half a days battery from a $1000 phone the. We may as well just use Windows. There is something seriously wrong.

These are the answers I have found : don't use LTE, don't use Siri, don't use iCloud, turn all the apps off, turn off cellular data, delete podcast app.... Aren't these the selling points????????

There is no answer. The battery life is horrible. There's no fix. Even in standby mode, it's horrible. Return your phone.

I'm thinking I need to do a complete reset. After upgrading to 6.0.1 my battery life goes from a full charge to nothing in 1 hour.

Really disappointed with the i phone 5 battery apple has to make better phone feel that apple started go backwards its not a about longer screen, faster processor or small differences from i phone 4 to 5 we expected was a high tech Something end up with a phone that flat out battery in a half day.

Having replaced my iPhone 5 three times only to find the same repeating overheating, rapid battery drain problem, I decided to delete some old apps.

I discovered that 2 apps transferred from my old 4S no longer worked and were no longer in the App Store. I deleted them and now the phone is cold, battery lasts 2 days with iCloud on, Cellular data on, etc.

I think problem was that the phone(s) were constantly searching/checking for an update for these non existent apps.

Faith almost restored in Apple, but a warning would have been useful and the shop Guru's could have firgured this out instead of just issuing me with a new phone.

I know I'm months late in helping you out here, but hope this will still help you. I got my self an iPhone 5 as well recently and the battery died so fast. My friend suggested draining the battery and then charging the phone to see if any improvements were seen. I did that and I saw a small change in the battery strength. I drained the battery two more times, and that is when I saw a huge difference. Meaning when I initially got the iPhone 5 I would have 25-30% drop with in the hour and all I did was text a couple of my friends. However after draining the battery a few times, with in 1.5-2 hours my battery went from 100 to 80% from continous music play + texting. As you can see there was a dramatic change. The battery is now in par with my iPhone 4's battery strength where it would allow me to do so much before the battery decreases.

    Hope this helps,

    Dylan

    Hi,

May I suggest that you do the following and let me know how your iphone 5 reponds?

    1. Take a complete backup of your iphone in Itunes.

    2. Restore your phone to factory settings using itunes restore option.

    3. Once restored activate / setup your phone as a "New Phone" DO NOT RESTORE FROM YOUR BACKUP.

    4. Now sync all your data from itunes again.

This is a one time effort but you should see the results from day 1.

    Hope this helps!

    Best,

    Sid

    Completely agree with Sid -

I too like many others on this forum was having issues with battery life. Like most here this is our 3rd or 4th iphone and naturally everyone is setting up the iphone 5 from a backup.  BAD IDEA - somehting is happening in the background processess that is depleting the battery life - I'm sure that right now apple may not even know what is causing it.

Only solution is to setup the iphone as a "New Phone" -  just be careful you will lose ALL your texts, possily your notes if not synched with icloud/gmail. I also lost my app info but not the apps.

Thank you thank you thank you!  I bought an iphone 5 3 months ago, and as a loyal iphone user, i just restored from the last backup of the latest phone.  I was really disappointed with the battery life - I did everything - I disabled location, wifi, removed apps....  I was just about to give up when I finally found this and gave it a shot.

And yes, 16 hours on and i am still on 50%!!!!  Before yesterday, I was charging the phone every night and it was totally down and out by 4!

Thank you Sid!  Listen up everyone, this is the answer!
