I have a similar problem. Our apple id is in my husbands email.  He now has an android (booo). I want to change our apple id to my email. When i tried to change it, it says that I cannot have an apple id that is the same as the recovery id.  How do I change the recovery id to his and then the apple id to mine when they are the other way around?   any ideas would be appreciated!

    Hi,

This Apple Support Profile portal can also be used

You may need to change the Country setting as it is set up for access for one of my Apple IDs

Only Change/Edit the Password section.  (DO NOT touch the Apple ID area)

Well, I have a problem too. I didn't know what I was saying yes to when it said use the same primary email address and apple ID. I pressed it but i don't have that email. I would like to change it but it won't let me. How do I do it?

    Hi,

IF your Apple ID is an Email that you no longer have access to then you can use the Link in my previous post to change the Email associated with your Apple Support Communities account  (it actually effects several other Apple emailing places that you might use such as iTunes)

That did not work.  I added an alternate email, hoping that would help.  I saved that information and signed out to try again.  I cannot find a location to change the recover email address.  Please help.  No matter how many times I try, it will not let me save the old recover email address as my main email address.

    Hi,

My Apple ID (or the one I use to pist here and make purchases in iTunes) is from an old Dial-up account I once had.

More recently I linked this to a iCloud ID.

What this did here in Apple Support Communities was delete the email I was using to get notifications of new posts.  (That one was actually a Google Mail ID which saved having to use the Dial-up account).

Once the Google Mail  address was removed I could not change it back using the Apple ID site.

I also could not make the ID the new iCloud ID/email either.

I did not really want to delete the Apple ID or convert it to another email address as it was used in too many places.

Using the Link above I was able to Change the email that Apple (mainly Apple Support Pages) send me emails to.

Apple - Support - My Support Profile
    Uploaded with Skitch!

A larger pic can be seen if you click the pic or the Link.

IF I now go the Manage Apple ID page I see this

    Apple - My Apple ID
    Uploaded with Skitch!

It tries to tell me to link them but only lists the Dial up account in the alert box.

I have found from Experience that IDs linked to iCloud IDs tend then to act as if they are Apple Issued IDs (Such @mac.com and @me.com from the .Mac Service and MobileMe service)

I too, had added Alternative emails but I can't find a way to have them as the email used by Apple Support Communities (Or any other Apple email source for sending me stuff)

Despite being linked to an iCloud ID as well I cannot get the Apple ID to "become" the iCloud ID (which is obviously an email I could still use).

    HI,

Typing in Upper Case for the whole thing is regarded as shouting here an Apple Support Communities.

The Link you have posted is really only relevant to your Own Apple ID page

(Apple's redirect take you to the Login page)

You also post in a manner that suggests everyones recovery email is from AOL.

You will also notice that Shadow 86's reply which happens to be the first reply states:-

go to https://appleid.apple.com .. log in to your account and you can edit

Apple ID and Primary Email Address

    from there.

hope it works for you. Cheers!

I stumbled upon this yesterday and found a way that worked for me. I didn't really find it here, so I decided to post it.

I checked my recovery e-mail's inbox for a mail called 'Please verify that we have the right address for you'. Click 'Verify now' in the e-mail (even if you have already done this). This should take you to a menu where you have to answer recovery questions. Once you answer these, you will get to the Security settings menu. You can edit your rescue e-mail address here.

    Cheers!

What if I dont know what I originally setup as a recovery email address and do not know the security question answers?

Is there anyway to see what the full email address is for this link that it suggest I send an email to?

Send reset security info email to a•••••@aol.com

    Thank you
