I haven't had good luck with AirPlay on my home network.  A quick breakdown of my gear:

iMac 27" 10,1 Intel Dual Core 2 Duo 3.06GHz

Airport Extreme 802.11n (1st Generation)

Apple TV (1st Generation)

Apple TV (2nd Generation)

iPad 2

iPhone 4S

Basically, whenever I try to use AirPlay- whether it's audio from iTunes or mirroring from an iOS device- the results on the Apple TVs are lousy.  The streaming audio cuts in and out, the mirroring from the iPad or the iPhone is laggy and ususable.  WiFi connectivity for data seems good- all devices have good bandwidth and download speeds are quick.  Direct streaming from the Internet to the Apple TVs is also fine.

I am assuming that the problem is my older, non dual-band Airport router is the root of the issue, but I was curious to see if anyone could confirm before I spend a lot of money on that new device.
