    Hey all,

Same exact issues here except that mine's an Ipod Touch 4G. 1 week since the iOS upgrade and my iPod's not back to normal. Been charging to full and the battery drains in about 1 hour and the pod is constantly feeling warm meaning it's still running processes even on standby. Anybody here with similar iPod issues? Please post your results. Resetting the iPod did not work for me. I'm gonna restore from backup and see what happens. Any other suggestions/solutions would be appreciated. Apple has to fix this soon!! I hope they're seeing this.

Hi, I restored my back up. Reinstall was a last option.

I am having the same battery drain since the upgrade and I never had this issue before! I have tried letting power drain down so phone would reset and tried resetting by holding home and power buttons together but neither has helped. Any other suggestions? I can watch the battery drain as I use the phone!

Have you tried to connect to iTunes on your computer and execute a backup and restore?  Someone earlier suggested not doing a restore since corrupted apps (if that is the problem) would be transferred back and to set up as a new phone.  That could very well be true, I don't know.  But doing the straight backup and restore seemed to have worked for me.

Personally, I believe all of these fixes are coincidence. If there was any real fix coinciding with one of these suggestions Apple would be out propmtly. Unfortunately, I believe it is deeper. And because of that I really think Apple could be in trouble. This is a serious issue affecting many folks and Apple has yet to adress it in any way. I find this to be be irresponsible and just horrible customer service. I have converted to an all mac household and want to continue with Apple products. However, as I write this on my MacBook Air I have lost 10% in battery power. Apparently, MBA's and other notebooks are also having battery issues. Even more frustrating is that Apple dared claim that iOS 6 and OSX 10.8.2 would IMPROVE battery life. It has done no such thing for many. One of the primary reasons people switch to mac is because it works very well with minor issues. Hwever, there seems to be some real issues with battery life with many of its new OS updates. Apple needs to correct this issue before it causes serious harm to people's opinion. I know at least two, and maybe three, people at work who are already thinking of switching to Android or other solution. This cannot be good.

    Apple, do something soon. Please.

    Same here.

You need to turn of the mobile usage and only turn it on when necessary.

    That worked for me.

    Goodbye whatsapp for now :-)

The Exchange work account is now configured without any problems. All my other accounts have also been enabled now: 1 Gmail (mail, 5 calendars), 1 Echange (mail, 1 calendar, reminders, contacts), 1 iCloud (1 calendar, reminders, contacts, notes, Safari, passbook, docs & data, Find my iPhone), 2 Hotmail (only mail). All of them are using push. All the location and other services are enabled as they come from default. Have not turn off anything but photo stream and not because battery saving but because I just don't use it.

I can gladly report that everything is now working fine and that battery life has improved compared to iOS 5.1.1. Processor use in idle oscillates now between 3 and 11%, pretty normal for an iPhone 4 IMO. I was having 10 to 20% CPU use on idle on iOS 5.1.1 with the same config.

In my case as told before I had to full reset the device from iTunes and configure it as a new phone. I did not restore the phone to a previous backup point. iCloud syncing (no iCloud backup) helped a lot here as contacts, calendars, etc were taken care of by this, and all the apps were freshly downloaded from the app store.

App data I needed was extracted from the iPhone before the reset using programs like iPhone Explorer http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/?utm_expid=15979170-2 that let you do this for free (does not need jailbreaking).

I recommend this procedure as a last effort if nothing else seems to work and I still think that Apple should pay more attention to this issue. The "just work" Apple slogan is far from true in this case.

I have never had an issue with rapid battery drain after an iOS update, other than the first couple of days afterwards when I'm playing with all the features.

Here's my trick, and it's something I tell all my users at work.  At night when you connect your phone to the charger, go ahead and close all the open apps.  When you get up in the morning turn your phone off while you're in the shower.  Also once a week run your phone down to about 5% battery power.  I take my phone off the charger at 6 am and even with regular use I'm still at about 30% power around 8 pm.  That's even with playing words with friends throughout the day, regular work emails, calls, etc.

Other than doing the above I haven't done anything else, I leave wi-fi and bluetooth on all day, I have location services, etc on.  I'm an IT manager and whenever someone complains about battery life I recommend the above mentioned steps and all of them come back and tell me they noticed much better battery life

I've been experiencing the same battery issues after updating my 4S. I've turned off every automatic update/feature I could find including:

    1. auto-brightness (settings<brightness & wallpaper)

    2. all unneccessary notifications including the AMBER and Emergency alerts (settings<notification)

    3. auto time zone (settings<general<date & time)

    4. all unneccesary location services (settings<privacy<location services)

Even after turning these off, I'm still experiencing poor battery performance that I didn't have with the previous platform. I have yet to reset and restore the device, but will probably try that next.

iPhone 4S 16GB IOS 6.  Phone charged to 100% at 7 a.m., it is now 10:45 and battery life is at 13%.  Sent two texts, no phone calls, no games, turned location services off, email off, etc...There is a serious problem.  I could actually watch it drain 1% roughly every 2 or 3 minutes.  Have turned on Airplane mode and the drainage seems to have stopped except now I have a useless phone.

BTW phone is 2 months old.
