I had this problem on my iphone 4, this was a right pain in the backside. Try this fix as it worked for me and seems to have cured the problem
First of all make sure you are connected to your Wi-Fi network,
Once you are connected go to settings - then Wi-Fi - click on the blue arrow at the right hand side of you netwok
scroll to the bottom of the page and then click on renew lease.
Since doing this my phone has stayed connected.
Just a thought

Same problem with mine.. Went into apple shop and spoke with a techie, he said to back up and restore as could have a bug or didn't install properly at first... Done that same as before though.. Going back tomorrow. Seems apple don't want to recognise there's a problem.. I'm clearly not the only person with the problem...

I talk to a tech guy from Apple yesterday. He seems not know why the problem is. He troubleshoots everything I did before I made a call. That's annoying. He suggested to change a device if the prob continues. Duh!

I just realized now that I also have this same problem. I am worried that my data costs for the month is going to be very high since the wifi keeps turning off and I havent even realized it. Clearly, this is a problem. I am seeing multiple postings on this same issus. I hope Apple fixes this problem. I am going to try all suggestions.

I have tried many things to fix it from other posts but the problem continues. I'm just waiting for a more up-to-date iOS. This version is disappointing in this case.

I just got off the phone with apple. My solution was as easy as just going into wifi and making sure it was slid to ON for 'join known networks' at the bottom. So far it has worked... Good luck

Good luck and watch your data plan usage since the wifi is not working. You might get an over charge on your data bill! That's what I was worried about!

Apple acknowledges issue and sends a fix to Verizon users phones!
New Knowledge Base for this even.

I have been facing a similar issue ever since I upgraded to iOS6. The wifi n/w on the iPhone keeps dropping off. This happends both at home and office (corporate network). May be I can change the Home n/w name, but what would be the solution for the corporate n/w. This never happened until I was on 5.1.1 .
