Nope. Because MMS didn't work before the APN was installed.

MMS isn't working on my 4S. It worked fine on my unlocked iPhone with the previous iOS but it broke with iOS 6. I have tried everything but it just won't work. I use StraightTalk. Apple better fix it soon! I also wish I could change the APN settings from the phone itself.

How do we go about alerting Apple that there is a problem with MMS on AT&T specifically that they need to fix?  Do I assume their support team read these forums and act upon them?  I'm at a point where I'm either looking to  replace my iOS 6 iphone 4 with another used iphone 4/4s with iOS 5 on it or upgrading to a Samsung Galaxy.

There is no problem on AT&T, with un-hacked iPhones.

First, let me explain my problem because I have a pretty decent reason MMS isn't working on iOS 6 (espscially the iPhone 5). The day AT&T opened, and the iPhone 5 was released, I got it. My friend had an upgrade, and I traded her my 4S, plus $300.00 cash because I'm a GoPhone user and I don't get upgrades. That being said, the iPhone 5 I received was NOT unlocked. It was locked into AT&T. Anyway, as soon as I got home, I started playing around on it. I finally realized my MMS wasn't working. I couldn't send or receive pictures, videos, contacts, etc. I assumed it was a network glitch because so many new iPhone's were being activated, so I waited a couple of days. After the couple of days, I started to realize that wasn't the problem because my friend told me he was sending and receiving MMS messages the minute he started using his. He, however, was on a contract. So what do I do? I had Apple unlock my iPhone 5 for $30.00, and it still didn't work. I tried using a custom APN, and that didn't work either. It did make my internet work though, and that was a plus. I ended up doing a clean restore in iTunes, and guess what, that didn't work. I finally gave up and went to my local AT&T store where I bought the phone. They gave me a brand new SIM card, and I'm still having trouble. Other than that, I remember my iPhone 4S being on iOS 6, and my MMS didn't work either, so it HAS to be the new OS. My MMS and data worked flawlessly on my iPhone 4S with 5.1.1. I guess all us GoPhone users can only wait it out for a new custom APN that will allow MMS and data. I hope this helped.

i had the same issue, and found that if you have a go phone or a prepaid $50 a month plan with at&t, then updating to ios 6.0 will cause you to lose the function of mms/video...

best way to prove that this is the problem, get a friend that has att and has a full service contract and swapp the sim cards.. turn phone of then on.. (may not have to).. and try to send it... if it sends then you know its your prepaid plan.. i dont know of a fix except.. not updating... sorry...

just for anyone who is having an MMS problem with the update here's what I did.....and I have a unlocked 4S with iOS 6 on T-mobile network and couldnt send or receive MMS trying all the solutions presented in this forum..........but i NOW HAVE A FIX!!! ....( iphone 4 users can use this too just follow directions accordling) here it is...

    go to SETTINGS

Turn WI-FI-OFF if it's on for this to work and turn on after all is done

    then GENERAL

    then NETWORK

(if you have IOS 6 then it probably says CELLUAR and not  NETWORK)

    Data Roaming-ON

3G Enable-OFF (u can turn this back on after all is done also)

    Now....

    go to CELLULAR DATA NETWORK

    under the Cellular Data section----

    -APN: epc.tmobile.com

(NOTE: for some iphone unlocks u may need to use wap.voicestream.com but try this intial example first b4 trying that input)

    -USERNAME:<leave blank>

    -PASSWORD:<leave blank>

    Now..

    under the MMS section----

    -APN: epc.tmobile.com

    -USERNAME:<leave blank>

    -PASSWORD:<leave blank>

    -MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc

-MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080 (if you have a 4S LEAVE BLANK)

-MMS Max Message Size: 1048576 (if you have a 4S LEAVE BLANK)

    -MMS UA Prof URL: http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

now to see if it worked....

when all that is typed in click the home button to save the APN and exit to the main screen

    Verify MMS is enabled:

    Settings

    Messges

    Set MMS messaging to ON

Now send someone a test pic and there u go!!! :-) i hope that helps someone

    SOLUTION!!!!

I got myself a T-Mobile sim yesterday and put it in and was able to access the Cellular Data Network settings and put in the MMS APN for Go Phone.  You can get these from unlockit's web site.

    It works!!!!!

I can now send MMS and have data on my iPhone 4S with IOS6 on a 4S iPhone.  I am using the AT&T Go Phone $25 /mo plan with unlimited text and a 200MB Data Plan Package.

Reply if you need more specific info.

    Don't give up!!!

How did you go to APN? I am using AT&T. Must I buy a T-mobile sim card?

I tried this a long time ago, and discovered this was the problem. Only GoPhone users weren't allowed to send and receive MMS messages. I swapped SIMS with a friend on a contract, and it worked just fine. Therefore ONLY GoPhone users are not allowed to send and/or receive MMS at this time.

Yes, you must buy either a T-Mobile SIM card (NOT activated), or a StraightTalk SIM card (NOT activated).
