Sep 27, 2012 7:00 PM in response to CygnusTMby Garv76,Everything is working using wifi but I went through a lot to have a hardware to my Apple TV and I really would like to use it!! I don't want to try and stream 1080p movies through wifi I already know that doesn't work well that's why I had a Ethernet cable installed to my Apple TV. Any help would be great!!

Sep 29, 2012 11:14 AM in response to CygnusTMby jmstassen,Any idea when this will be resolved? Can we revert back from 5.1? It's the heat of the playoff chase.

Sep 29, 2012 7:16 PM in response to jmstassenby Jon_Beckerman,Similar issue. My 2nd gen Apple TV hasn't been updated and works fine. My 3rd gen Apple TV got updated, and I get the try later error. Wifi connectivity isn't working at all. This is too bad.

Sep 30, 2012 8:54 AM in response to CygnusTMby chadbush,I updated my Apple TV 3 to 5.1 and all connectivity except for Netflix broke. Cannot play Hulu+ videos, although it does show my favorites and recently watched. Cannot connect to Photo Stream. Cannot connect to Apple Store. Cannot connect to my YouTube account, although I can connect to YouTube itself. Did factory reset, rebooted network, switched from Google's DNS servers back to the original ISP-based servers provided by Cox.
Finally, unplugged ethernet cable, connected via wifi, and all issues instantly resolved.
But part of why I chose an Apple TV was for the ethernet port, and broken ethernet for me is a deal breaker.
I just sent Roy an email with more details. I hope this gets fixed soon.

Oct 1, 2012 1:58 PM in response to CygnusTMby jmstassen,I went to an Apple Store and they ended up replacing my AppleTV with an AppleTV that was still in the box and running the previous software. Now I just need to remember not to update to 5.1 until I hear that the problem has been resolved. Worth a shot if you want to catch the last two days of the regular season.

Oct 2, 2012 3:27 AM in response to Harald Boyeby Harald Boye,Well, that wasnt to hard to fix actually. Unplugged the ATV, reconnected AC-cord, and suddenly it worked again, audiofiles and video plays fine.

Oct 2, 2012 5:43 AM in response to CygnusTMby MikeIke1,I have the same issue where the channels work via wifi but don't work using the ethernet port. When I took it to the genius bar today, when they plugged my ATV3 to their ethernet, it worked fine. Must be something between my ATV3 and my Netgear WNDR4500. I thought it was working again so I didn't exchange it....ugh

Oct 2, 2012 10:43 AM in response to CygnusTMby GAAT_MX,It seems we will need to wait for another software update... Uhggg!
All the work and time to run a wire over from one room to another to see the Yanks in glorious HD useless!...
Hope to get a fix soon.

Oct 3, 2012 10:48 AM in response to CygnusTMby Roy B,Hello all,
It appears that this issue is related to specific network/Internet configurations. If you are experiencing this issue (some features work over WiFi but not Ethernet) after updating to Apple TV version 5.1, please send me <royb@apple.com> an email with this information:
1. What is the manufacturer, model number and firmware version (if possible) of your Ethernet router?
2. What is the manufacturer, model number and firmware version (if possible) of your WiFi router? (if it is different)
3. What is your Internet service provider?
4. Where are you located geographically? (what city?)
5. What Internet features do work over Ethernet?
6. What Internet features do not work over Ethernet?
7. Does it read "Activation Failed" at the bottom right in Settings > General > About?
Please make the subject line of your email be "Some features work over WiFi but not Ethernet".
Thanks,
Roy

Oct 6, 2012 3:04 AM in response to Roy Bby jp924,Cmon Roy.... this is clearly an Apple problem and the resolution should come from Apple without stressing your customers any further in this matter. Please do not add insult to injury. Your product should work on all routers and modems. Your update is what's at fault here, not our equipment. There wasnt a problem with our equipment until the update. I cant believe we pay your company so much money to only get your type of response which is to put the problem on the end user. Please resolve this before it gets out to the media. Aren't you guys embarrassed enough with the map situation on IOS6??? I own may Apple products because of what has been a good reputation from Apple. Please keep that reputation intact and resolve this matter ASAP.

Oct 6, 2012 3:24 AM in response to Roy Bby jp924,I mean this issue has been posted since 9/26/12 right in the middle of the MLB playoffs and instead of rushing to fix the problem, you are asking us to research and send you lengthy information about our equipment.

Oct 6, 2012 8:37 AM in response to CygnusTMby rosieoutlook,This doesn't have anything to do with MLB.tv. I don't have that and my apple tv no longer works since the last update. I'm totally WiFi.
