Oct 2, 2012 2:57 AM in response to tobifsby mobg888,Really frustrated by this damned wifi bug.
Have been trying everything i can for the past week and nothing works.
Isolated the problem to the encryption. Once i enable "TKIP encryption" on the router the phone connects beautifully. LTE and 3G is perfect.
But once i reach my office (some ?unknown encryption probably WPA2) the wifi signal drops after 1-2 minutes every single time.
Sigh... i've really lost faith with Apple this time. Was actually deciding between the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 and it seems this time i've made the wrong choice.

Oct 2, 2012 3:39 AM in response to mobg888by RJB4,Spent a couple of hours on the phone with Apple last night. Reset, reboot, set up as new phone, duf, etc. They had me do everything but take it apart myself. Still not fixed. Now I am tired from staying up past my bedtime and even more crabby. 1st call was general customer service, 2nd call was a senior advisor. Now the engineering department is next. My issue seems to be AES related also. Now I am drinking coffee and wondering if I have entered the twilight zone. I have bought nothing but Apple for years. I have now been awakened and i am starting to like the Samsung Galaxy commercials even better. My brand loyalty is reaching its tipping point.

Oct 2, 2012 4:05 AM in response to RJB4by mccosha,Same issue here.
Problem seems to be with encryption type. ios6 won't work with WPA2.
I am FURIOUS - calling ATT - there is NO way I am paying overages over this.

Oct 2, 2012 4:11 AM in response to RJB4by filmstarr,I've been having the same issues as described here on my iPhone 5. Messed around with loads of router, DNS and other settings but there is no sweet way that this is acceptable support from Apple! Fine for a temporary fix, but I'm not going to go around asking people to change to change their router setup such that I can connect properly: "Exceuse me, would you mind changing the encryption setting on your wireless router please? It's just that I have an iPhone 5 and the World must revolve around it..."
There's no Apple store where I live so it's going to be a pain for me to get a replacement if it is a hardware problem!
P.s. Apple, for every one person posting on here there's probably at least a hundred who have not.

Oct 2, 2012 4:59 AM in response to tobifsby i_Mike,I had this problem http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeaFXKvFPbY (weak WiFi signal) whith the first iPhone that I recieved - it was made in 37th week. Got replacement yesterday (from 36th week), the WiFi signal was finally like it should be, but I had slow connection - under 1MB/s at first. Today everything is working great:) I've got full WiFi speed and full signal in the whole flat like I used to have with iPhone 4:)

Oct 2, 2012 5:08 AM in response to tobifsby cosmic81,has there been anything official yet from Apple on those issues? been battling with it for a week now as well and all troubleshooting had led to no permanent fix. iphone5 on IOS loses connections to WPA2 secured WIFI quickly and needs a disable / enable cycle on the WLAN option to reconnect and see some traffic (for 1-2 mins maybe, then same procedure needed). We have 2 iphone 4's in the same household and they have no issues on IOS6. Should I vouch for a hardware replacement from my German provider?

Oct 2, 2012 5:39 AM in response to tobifsby nadachance,Mine will connect if I am on top of the access point but quickly loses the connection. Can't even see access points at work or the hotel. I did a restore, reset and said several prayers to the Geek God but none of that helped. I am taking it back to the apple store today for the Genius to fix it or replace it.

Oct 2, 2012 5:48 AM in response to tobifsby Zanga,Had the same problem with the iPhone 5 here in Italy.
Got it on Friday, the day it was relased, got home and picked up my wifi network created by my timecapsule, but the speed was horribly slow both in 5ghz and 2.4ghz (my 3g connection was even faster!!!) while the iPad 3 and my girlfriend iphone 4s were doing great all on iOS 6.0.
Got the iPhone replaced today directly via Apple and....still no luck, exactly the same issue as the previous one.
Don't know if it might be an hardware problem (two iphones out of two? very weird...) or a software problem with the new wifi chip installed in the iPhone 5....
Don't know if I should call back apple or wait for an update....
